The singer mentioned that the new name aligns with “curiosity” and “the eternal question.” She was responding to a fan’s tweet that called her baby “Sailor Mars.” It was indicated that Grimes and Musk are fans of the manga series “Sailor Moon,” as it was previously revealed that they often called their daughter “Sailor Mars,” which explains the fan’s tweet that the singer replied to.
The name change doesn’t seem too out-of-the-blue after it was previously reported by Vanity Fair that “Y” was a nickname for the Twitter CEO and the singer’s second daughter — who was originally named Exa Dark Sideræl — when they hadn’t publicly revealed her full name yet. The new name also matches with Grimes and Musk’s first son, X, making the kids “X” and “Y.”
