After navigating a challenging period, Grimes, the acclaimed musician and mother to three of Elon Musk’s children, is making a return to the music scene, as revealed by Page Six.
Sources indicate that the “Genesis” singer marked her comeback with an impromptu performance at Coachella in Indio, California, on Sunday, captivating the audience with her surprise appearance.
During the event, Grimes introduced “Sign From God,” a fresh track she collaborated on with Swedish artist Cobrah. This marked her first onstage appearance in over a year, according to insiders.
“It’s her first performance in quite some time. It was a last-minute surprise,” a source revealed. “The song is part of an upcoming Grimes project, with more to be expected in 2026.”
Grimes’ previous appearance at the festival in 2024 was marred by technical difficulties, leaving her visibly frustrated onstage. This latest performance suggests a promising new chapter for the artist.
Our source said she’s made a few live appearances since that incident, but “she’s been offline working on a new project. More will emerge soon!” they said.
Meanwhile, she’s been knee-deep in legal dramas with her billionaire baby-daddy.
The “Oblivion” singer has three kids — X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus — with the SpaceX founder from their on-and-off relationship between 2018 and 2022.
Grimes sued Musk for custody in 2023, and the pair were in an ugly custody battle across two states, Texas and California.
At one point, the singer claimed she had been separated from one of her children for five months.
Last July, Grimes’ mother wrote publicly to Musk on social media, saying, “I’m writing here as the only way I have to reach you. As you know, my 93 year old mother is now at end-of-life palliative care.
“I am alarmed to learn that the children cannot come as you are withholding them and their needed passport documents from [Grimes].” Musk didn’t respond to the claims.
