Harry Johnson and Beaux Raymond Too Hot to Handle

For fans of Netflix’s hit series, Too Hot to Handle (‘THTH’), it’s no surprise that Season 3 was perhaps the most scandalous of them all. With the $200,000 prize dwindling to a mere $0 after the show’s rebels, Holly Scarfone and Nathan Soan Mngomezulu, broke Lana’s final rule, it seemed a cash prize for the unnamed series winners might have been out of the question. However, the merciful virtual assistant decided to give Holly and Nathan one more chance, and their commitment to chastity brought the prize money back up to $90,000.

While Holly and Nathan repeatedly defied Lana’s stipulations, it was the show’s eventual winners, Harry Johnson and Beaux Raymond, who remained compliant with Lana’s practices, walking away as boyfriend and girlfriend with $45,000 each. TheThings spoke with Harry to learn more about how the show’s regulations fostered a budding relationship.

Harry Discusses The Impact Of The THTH Workshops

Throughout the duration of their stay in the Too Hot to Handle villa, the islanders are put through a series of workshops aimed at helping them grow both individually, and with potential partners. However, from the outside, it’s difficult to fully grasp the magnitude of these workshops and the true significance they have on the participants. What was Harry’s take?

“A lot of the workshops helped…they’re a lot deeper than what anyone thinks. We’re working with professionals and digging up everything about our past…you don’t see everything we go through. You really have to dig into your past and what you need to work on as a person.”

Though it may surprise viewers, Harry admits that he was not expecting to find someone on the show that he connected with, calling himself a “slow burner.” He recalls having been told by the show’s producers that while his charisma and sense of humor shone through, he was lacking in vulnerability.

So, Harry took it upon himself to be more open, another facet of himself he learned to mature through the workshops. So, of the workshops conducted in the villa, which was the most influential for him?

“The main one for me was where we had this board, and you wrote everything that someone had called you in the past, or said was wrong with you within a relationship…5 things about you you’d heard that have always stuck with you…and you throw paint at the canvas basically saying that’s not you…just because people have tarnished your name doesn’t mean that’s who you are.”

In a word: therapeutic. Letting go of the past that looms over you is the only way to move forward with any relationship. Furthermore, self acceptance and the ability to rid yourself of negative thoughts or comments helps to propel you toward a successful future that you might otherwise hold yourself back from.

What Happened To Harry And Beaux?

With all the learnings garnered from the expert-held workshops, Harry was able to form a strong relationship with Beaux that was not built on physicality and sexuality, but rather emotion and sensitivity. Starting as friends who had eyes for others in the villa, Harry and Beaux’s feelings toward one another strengthened throughout their time on the island. On Episode 9 of the series, Harry asked Beaux to be his girlfriend.

Fans were rooting for the pair following the season finale, hoping the two would be successful on the outside. However, not long after the show’s airing, it was discovered that the pair had split.

“Being on the outside is so different…When we got put into this island, it was Covid-free, it was very intense. When we left, we had work, and [Beaux] was 4-hours away. We came back in the middle of the pandemic, we couldn’t really travel, we couldn’t follow each other on [social media] or do anything after the show…it just brought us back down to earth really.”

The difficulty posed by contractual obligation when becoming a cast-member of a dating show makes maintaining a relationship extremely challenging as Harry alluded to. In fact, he tells us that Season 3 aired a full year after they left the retreat. Imagine concealing your relationship for 365 days; a feat quite impossible for most.

Yet despite Harry and Beaux’s relationship not having been the success story viewers might have wanted, Harry assures us,

“It was an amazing experience and what we had together will always be special.”

So, What’s Harry’s Current Relationship Status?

Not only did Too Hot To Handle enable Harry to let go of his past and form a new relationship, it afforded him the title of “winner” and prize money that allowed him to look after his friends and family. Harry tells us that, while he’s had to adjust to people running over and asking for pictures, he feels extremely fortunate for the opportunity presented to him.

Leaving the villa a changed man, Harry recalls how Lana’s teachings changed his perspective on relationships,

“I learned to be more patient with people. A lot of the time, if I didn’t like someone, I wasn’t always a good listener…it was my way or the highway…You don’t need to rush things, and don’t be afraid of commitment. I’ve learned about myself, and how to be a better person in general.”

That said, has Harry been able to put his learnings to the test?

“I’m seeing someone. I’ve swapped 100 girls for one,” Harry laughed.

Well, it seems like his new lady is lucky to have this version of Harry. It seems Lana’s reach extends beyond the walls of the villa, offering a glimmer of hope to those who seek newfound love.
