After Emma Roberts gave birth in December 2020 to the son she shares with Garrett Hedlund, their lives changed forever. Sadly, the former couple’s lives went through another huge change when they broke up.
Now that Roberts and Hedlund aren’t together, they have to deal with the realities of what it means to co-parent with your ex. Since a lot of people know how hard that can be, they want to know how Hedlund and Roberts are coping with co-parenting.

After Emma Roberts and Evan Peters’ relationship garnered a lot of controversies, she went on to get involved with the actor Garrett Hedlund. Together for almost three years, at one time it seemed like Hedlund and Roberts were going to last.
After it was revealed that Roberts and Hedlund were breaking up, many fans were left with one question, what led to the split?
As of the time of this writing, neither Hedlund nor Roberts have confirmed what led to them going their separate ways. However, reports blame the split on a serious problem that Hedlund has.
According to Us Weekly, Hedlund has addiction issues and that is what led to his relationship with Roberts ending. That same report claimed that Roberts tried to avert the split by repeatedly trying to get Hedlund to go sober.
Sadly, the insider who spoke to US Weekly revealed that even though Roberts “gave him multiple ultimatums”, Hedlund couldn’t consistently overcome his addiction. The insider also said that neither Hedlund nor Roberts resent each other because of how their relationship played out.
“They have a very amicable relationship with each other and are being very adult about their breakup.”

Since she and Hedlund went their separate ways, Roberts has reportedly moved on to a new relationship with an actor named Cody John. On the other hand, there isn’t any indication that Hedlund has found a new partner as of the time of this writing.
How Are Emma Roberts And Garrett Hedlund Co-Parenting?
When a couple breaks up after several years together and they have to co-parent, they suddenly find that there are a lot of things to figure out. With that in mind, it would be weird if Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund were putting out statements about co-parenting together.
While Hedlund and Roberts aren’t prioritizing talking to the press about co-parenting, that doesn’t mean that nothing is known about how they are handling the situation. After all, there have been reports about how the former couple is co-parenting.
According to reports, Roberts and Hedlund ended their relationship in January 2022. Later that same month, the first report about how the former couple was co-parenting surfaced.
Sadly, when an insider spoke to People that month, they revealed that the situation Hedlund and Roberts found themselves in was painful for all involved. Fortunately, even that early report made it clear that Emma and Garrett were trying to make the best of the situation.
“It’s sad, and they are trying their best to co-parent. It’s been hard.”
Roughly a month later, US Weekly published an update about Roberts and Hedlund co-parenting. According to that report, the former couple still had a healthy co-parenting relationship though it acknowledged that Hedlund’s addiction issues had the potential to cause problems.
“Garrett and Emma have a great co-parenting relationship. When he’s sober, he’s a great guy, and they’ve been handling co-parenting very well.”
In May 2022, Hedlund took to Instagram to celebrate Mother’s Day by lavishing praise on his ex. Based on Hedlund’s post, it seems obvious that the exes are making the best of their situation and he truly values that Roberts is the mother of his son.
“To the most beautiful mother, dear Emma! You gave us a gift who never ceases to melt our hearts, amaze our minds, and make all the anythings just fly away, from morning till night. All my love.”
