Before she was a cooking superstar, however, Stewart was a model. She actually started modeling when she was only 13 years old, and she had a pretty decent career in modeling before she transitioned into cooking. Stewart made the decision to return to modeling in 2022 after several decades of not posing, despite being in her 80s. Now, the cooking star has landed the spot on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Here’s how she did it.

What Is Martha Stewart Famous For?

Martha Stewart is a famous cookbook writer and television personality. She is known for her cookbooks and loving personality.

Stewart’s business in the food industry began long before she appeared on television, however. In 1976, Stewart made the bold move to quit her job on Wall Street and open a catering business. The recipes she created ended up being the inspiration for her famous cookbooks.

Stewart published her first cookbook in 1982, calling it Entertaining. She has gone on to create numerous more cookbooks.

Stewart also expanded her business to include household items such as towels, cleaning supplies, and of course, cookware. She even had a furniture line launch in 2003.

Her famous lifestyle series The Martha Stewart Show began airing on NBC in 2005.

Stewart’s business now includes everything anyone could need to build a home, and her constant outpour of cookbooks promises that everyone can cook.

Not surprisingly, Stewart has amassed quite the net worth from her lifestyle and cooking business.

Did Martha Stewart Go To Prison?

Though today Martha Stewart is a huge success, she almost lost everything after a scandal in 2001.

Stewart was accused of insider trading after she sold nearly 4,000 shares of stock. That stock plummeted in value the very next day. She reportedly got the information about the stock from her Merrill Lynch broker.

Stewart was eventually indicted for insider trading and obstruction of justice. After a six-week trial in March 2004, the cooking star was found guilty and sentenced to five months in federal prison. Her stay in prison would be followed by two years of supervised probation. Stewart was also fined $30,000.

Many fans were worried this would be the end of Stewart’s career. After all, her career was built on family values and homemaking, and going to prison does not exactly promote either mindset.

Though Stewart lost a lot of money and parts of her business, she came out swinging. Before she was even released from prison, NBC announced that she would be hosting two television shows on their network. Stewart was given her own talk show as well as the hosting gig on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. Both shows premiered in late 2005, several months after her release from prison.

Stewart worked hard to regrow her business following the scandal. Many of her lifestyle blogs and homemaking products were released after her time in jail, ensuring that she maintained her relevancy in the industry.

Martha Stewart Used To Be A Model

Before Martha Stewart made waves in the cooking and lifestyle industry, Stewart was actually a model. Modeling was her first introduction to the entertainment industry, and she started out at a very young age.

Stewart began modeling when she was only 13 years old. It was the 1950s when Stewart started her modeling journey. She really dived into the career when she entered high school in order to make a little money. Stewart appeared in advertisements, magazines, and even some television commercials.

When Stewart moved to New York City to attend Barnard College, she continued to model on the side. While studying History and Architectural History, she appeared in advertisements for brands such as Breck and Lifebuoy Soap. She also walked in fashion runways to help pay for her tuition.

After college, she stopped modeling and got a job on Wall Street. Though she eventually shifted gears to cooking and lifestyle, Stewart always had a soft spot for modeling.

She never exactly gave it up, considering how much of her career has been in front of a camera, but Stewart still made the bold decision to return to modeling decades later in 2022.

Martha Stewart Returns To Modeling

As a business woman with her hand in every cookie jar, one would not expect Martha Stewart to promote products that are not her own. However, the cooking star and model loves to affiliate herself with other brands. In the fall of 2022, Stewart was hired to film a promotional video for Green Mountain Coffee.

The video promoting the product was posted on Stewart’s Instagram page, and it really is something people have to see to believe.

While holding Green Mountain Coffee and promoting the product, Stewart is wearing nothing but gold earrings and an apron showing the company logo.

Stewart received high praise for the video, earning many positive comments from celebrities and fans.
