Season 3 of The Traitors gave us a random star-studded cast we didn’t know we needed. Most of the contestants are from notable reality TV shows, including multiple Survivor alums and a whole Real Housewives crossover.

Selling Sunset‘s Chrishell Stause even had an instant clash with Tom Sandoval of Vanderpump Rules‘ “Scandoval”. With such big names, like the first openly gay royal, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, the ex-husband of Britney Spears, Sam Asghari almost went unnoticed.

While the model refused to spill the tea about the musician to his Traitors co-stars, Sam admitted that his famous marriage to Britney influenced his approach to the competition.

Sam Asghari Said Being Married To Britney Spears Showed Him The “Darker Side Of Hollywood”

In an exclusive interview with Page Six in January 2025, Sam said he “learned a lot in the past five or six years being exposed to that (darker) side of Hollywood” after his relationship with Britney, which started in 2016. He went on to call it a “blessing” for his Traitors stint.

“It was a quick crash course in Hollywood and it sort of helped me,” Sam continued. “I figured it would be a good tool to actually help me in The Traitors game as well.”

Sam was referring to being “careful,” especially when your privacy is at risk. “You have to be careful in every industry,” he explained. “Not just in Hollywood. You have to always be careful and protect yourself and protect the people that you love.”

Sam first met Britney when he starred in her “Slumber Party” music video in October 2016. From then, the two started a controversial romance that later ended after a 14-month marriage.

Sam was accused of “taking advantage” of Britney during their relationship. But speaking to Page Six, he said: “The number one factor of a partner is to be there for one another, no matter what… There’s never ever a need to take advantage of anybody.”

After his divorce from Britney was finalized in May 2024, Sam didn’t get any spousal support or financial settlement. TMZ reported that due to their prenup, Britney only “paid his rent for a few months after he moved out, but that was about it.”

It’s what kept him from saying both negative and positive things about the pop star while filming The Traitors. Amid of the “uncontested” divorce, Sam vowed not to talk “badly” about Britney.

He told People in March 2024: “I’ve always hated people leaving a certain relationship—and at some point they told each other they love each other… So I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other.”

The Traitors cast had “no idea” who Sam was at first. In a YouTube live stream by Bob the Drag Queen, he described Britney’s ex-husband as “nice” but confessed: “I did not know this man was Britney Spears’ ex-husband.”

The RuPaul’s Drag Race alum continued: “I don’t know him, I do not know this man … He’s a nice guy—to me. He might not be nice, I don’t know. I can’t vouch for anything beyond that.”

Bob went on to share that upon entering the castle, everyone was “trying to find out who each other are and everyone’s trying to find out, ‘Who is Sam?'” He then recalled that “at one point Nikki [Bella] was like, ‘I think that’s Davide [Sanclimenti] from Love Island,’” who Bob admitted “does honestly look like Sam.”

The Real Housewives of New York‘s Dorinda Medley even gave Sam divorce advice not knowing he was married to Britney. “I had no idea who Sam was” until “finally, Britney [Haynes] is like, ‘Dorinda, that is Britney Spears’ ex,'” she said on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show.
