In 2006, Donald Glover’s life changed forever when a spec script he wrote caught the eye of 30 Rock producers David Miner and Tina Fey. Hired to work on the show as a writer, Glover got his foot in the door of the entertainment industry.
Eventually, Glover earned the opportunity to star in the show Community as the hilarious and lovable Troy Barnes. Then, Glover left Community during the show’s fifth season much to the disappointment of fans everywhere.
When Donald Glover left Community, many observers were baffled by his decision as a career move. Little did they know that Glover would go on to become one of the leading voices of his generations thanks to all of his accomplishments including his show Atlanta and his music.
Thanks to how successful Glover has become, there are a lot of people who are interested in his personal life. As it turns out, one of the most interesting facts about Glover’s personal life is how much he looks up to the mother of his children.
How Many Children Does Donald Glover Have?
Every time a new Donald Glover project is released, including when he puts out an album, his fans all over the world are overjoyed. Part of the reason for that is that Glover’s projects get promoted to the public whenever they come out.
When it comes to his personal life, saying that Glover is more subdued while communicating with the public is an understatement. As a result, some of Glover’s fans may not even realize he is a father.
When Donald Glover was a comedian, he went on a hilarious and expletive-laced rant about how awful kids are. Of course, like all comedians, Glover was exaggerating for comedic effect. Still, it seems likely that Glover’s opinion has changed a lot since then.
Now the father of three children, Glover and his longtime partner Michelle White welcomed their sons into the world in 2016, 2018, and 2020.
On top of the kids Glover already has, he has professed an openness to bringing more children into his family. While talking about that possibility, Glover has stated that he and White have been considering adoption.
In 2020, the actor Michaela Coel interviewed Glover for GQ. During that interview, Glover described what it was like to have a son during the pandemic and then learn about what happened to George Floyd.

“You know, I had [a kid] during the coronavirus. Yeah, it was nuts. I was in the hospital bed. My son had just been born, like, an hour before and I was watching the George Floyd video. It was such a weird moment.”
“It was such an intense, weird moment, because I’m watching that video and it’s like eight minutes long, so you’re sitting there and I had just had this amazing, joyful, expanding moment, plus my dad had passed away recently, so [my son] was named after my father.
“I don’t even know what, really, the word is to describe it. It was just expanding: the empathy and compassion and the terror and the joy of it.”
Why Donald Glover Looks Up To The Mother Of His Children
Even though Donald Glover and Michelle White have been a couple for many years as of this writing, very little is known about their relationship. In fact, people know so little about the couple that there were headlines when they were spotted going for a walk.
On the rare occasion that Glover has talked about his longtime partner Michelle White, he has spoken about what she is like as the mother of his children. A perfect example of that is in 2018 Glover told People that White does most of the hard work to take care of their kids.
“I sleep four hours a night! I mean I don’t dream as much, I just miss dreaming! I think my partner, she does all the hard stuff, to be honest. She’s just very supportive. I haven’t really had to change anything. But it’s given me definitely another perception on what life is. It gives me a lot of context.”
On a couple of occasions when Glover has won awards, he has taken the opportunity to praise White. When Glover won Outstanding Actor In A Comedy at the 2017 Emmys, he thanked White and his kids.
“I want to thank Michelle, my partner. You love me even with how crazy I get. I want to thank my baby, my son, for just being the joy in my life. I want to thank my unborn son, we’re listening to Stevie tonight.”
The same year, Glover won Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes. During Glover’s acceptance speech, he revealed that White renewed his faith in humanity.
“I really want to say thank you to my son and the mother of my son for making me believe in people again and things being possible, so thank you.”
