Victoria Beckham's breakfast habit keeps her slim and makes skin 'glow'

Victoria Beckham is back on Netflix with her own self-titled docuseries, which launched on the streaming platform today (October 9). It follows her life as she prepares for Paris Fashion Week.

Victoria Beckham’s luxury lifestyle as a fashion designer and business owner might suggest she indulges in extravagant breakfasts, but the former pop star and fashion mogul reportedly prefers a simple, healthy start to her day.

HELLO Magazine reports that the ex Spice Girl sticks to a straightforward diet, with the 50-year-old rarely straying from her morning routine. According to her friend, actress Eva Longoria, Victoria enjoys a humble meal each morning.

Speaking to MailOnline, Longoria claimed: “[Victoria] is actually easy because we eat the same breakfast. We both love egg whites and avocado. When we’re together… she makes a great egg whites and avocado.”

Victoria Beckham also previously told The Telegraph that she eats three or four avocados daily to maintain her skin’s glow.

By ditching the egg yolk, the nutritional profile of this everyday staple changes significantly. The yolk contains most of the egg’s calories, fat and cholesterol. At first glance, removing the yolk – which accounts for nearly half of the egg’s protein content – might seem counterproductive.

However, a Healthline report suggests that, due to their high protein content, egg whites can help increase protein intake without significantly impacting calorie count, reports the Mirror.

Egg whites are beneficial for weight loss due to their high protein content, which encourages satiety and muscle development, all while being low in calories, fat, and cholesterol. This favourable protein-to-calorie ratio allows you to boost your protein consumption without raising your caloric intake, aiding in the maintenance of a lean body composition.

Pairing her lean egg whites with another superfood she is known to eat, avocado, ensures Victoria’s low-calorie breakfast is nutritionally balanced. BBC Good Health says that an 80g serving of avocado includes:

  • 152kcal
  • 1.5g protein
  • 15.6g fat
  • 1.5g carbohydrates
  • 3.6g fibre
  • 360mg potassium
  • 2.56mg vitamin E

Avocados have become a staple in the diets of many celebrities, including royalty such as King Charles and reality TV stars like Kourtney Kardashian. This green superfood is rich in essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that contribute to overall health.

Avocado benefits the skin due to its healthy fatty acids, vitamins (such as E, C, and A), and antioxidants that nourish, enhance hydration, and guard against ageing and sun damage. When consumed, avocados aid in collagen production and boost skin elasticity, while applying avocado oil directly to the skin helps to moisturise, soften, and calm it.

Its high concentration of vitamin E not only promotes healthy skin and eyes but also bolsters the immune system. While avocados may seem high in fat at first glance, these are actually monounsaturated fats, which research indicates can help ward off heart disease.

Another study has suggested that avocados’ fat and fibre content can keep you feeling satiated for longer, making them an excellent choice for those aiming to manage or shed weight. However, avocados are notorious for going brown once they are sliced open and exposed to air.

However, an ‘unusual’ tip will help these fruits stay fresh and green for longer if stored in a specific way. You may feel like you have tried every tip and trick out there to extend the life of your avocados, from squeezing on lemon juice, to wrapping them tightly in cling film, to storing them with onion slices, but there’s one lesser-known method that could make a surprising difference.

A popular home hack account on Instagram (@jimmy_laura_astuces) claimed that the way you cut your avocado can actually play a big role in how long it stays fresh. Instead of slicing it the usual way, lengthwise, from top to bottom, she recommended cutting it widthwise, across the middle.

This means that the other half with the seed intact has a smaller exposed surface area and fits better into a small container like a mug. Laura suggested storing the uneaten half with the seed still in, placed cut-side down inside a mug.
