A Sydney-based influencer has hit back after she was slammed for complaining on social media about the ‘poor’ service she received at a Christmas party for fashion house Burberry.
Icy Ling took to Instagram earlier this week to vent her frustration about having to queue for a complementary champagne and only receiving a half-filled glass.
The Beijing-born socialite was slammed on Instagram with users laughing about how out of touch she was with the ‘real world’.

She hit back at her followers on Saturday, writing: ‘There are a lot of world issues, but we are talking about a bartender rejecting a reasonable service.’
‘We should show sympathy that there are people struggling with living post Covid restrictions. However, while attending an event, guests should be able to at least enjoy.’
‘That’s also the point of Christmas parties, right? It is true that at the publicity events the drinks are free [but] it doesn’t mean the guests can expect a worse attitude from a bartender.’
Ling said she likes being ‘real and reliable to her followers, clients and friends’.
She continued: ‘It’s not about how much you serve in each Champagne glass. It is about how we treat each customer the way she or he would feel like revisiting.’

Ling ruffled some feathers last week when she complained on social media about the ‘poor’ service she received at a Christmas party for Burberry.
The Beijing-born socialite didn’t mince words: ‘The worst and rudest bartenders I have ever met in my media life! Just because there are two long queues, doesn’t mean my flute should be filled half full.
‘Seriously if you don’t want to serve, don’t bother, you don’t deserve to be at @Burberry! What a joke!’ she raged.
Ling said that she wasted her shampoo getting dressed up to attend the party and would have been better off drinking at home.

It didn’t take long for Ling to be roasted on Instagram with users laughing about how out of touch she was with the ‘real world’.

Ling doubled down on her claims when contacted by The Daily Telegraph for comment.
She said: ‘We all expect that global standard and you going there, no matter if you are media or a VIP, that was a bit of a shock.’
However, a publicist also in attendance clapped back at her claim of receiving poor service.
‘When you are invited as a guest of a brand, social media is anticipated to be positive. If you have a difficult experience you should raise with the brand.
‘What makes this stand out is that it is something so trivial to complain about champagne, particularly given we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis.’
