There is perhaps no reality TV show quite as grueling as Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. As the show’s name indicates, celebrities are brought in each season and must undergo intense physical challenges inspired by actual military training.
The catch with the show is that there is no elimination process, but rather contestants choose when they’re ready to drop out, deciding for themselves when they’ve had enough. This time around, Brittany Cartwright, an alum of Vanderpump Rules, was the first to hang up her hat and go home. Now she’s opened up about not being able to hang in the competition for as long as she would’ve liked.
Brittany Did The Show To Test Her Strength
Brittany agreed to join the Special Forces cast in order to prove something to herself. As reported by Reality Blurb, she explained that she had been through “so much this year,” referring to her tumultuous relationship with ex Jax Taylor, so she thought the competition would be a different kind of test.
Brittany got vulnerable in explaining her situation leaving Jax:
I finally found the strength to leave a very toxic relationship. I had my ex writing me, being like, ‘You’re not going to make it far,’ right before I even came here. People like that, I want to prove [them] wrong.
Going into the show, Brittany did have some concerns, one of which was that she wouldn’t be able to take the challenges seriously. She noted that she “giggle[s] all the time,” and that she worried it might make the instructors “hate” her.
Brittany Gave In During The First Challenge
The first exercise required contestants to launch themselves from a helicopter and then carry heavy equipment through the heat. It was clear fairly early on that Brittany was falling behind from the rest of the pack.
Brittany recounted that the coaches called out to her, saying, “You’re getting further and further behind. You are going home before the course even starts.” She could be seen struggling throughout the challenge, admitting she wasn’t in very good shape at the time and that it was taking a toll on her performance.
In the end, Brittany chose to alert the coaches and remove herself from the competition before the first challenge was even complete:
I feel like I’m going to pass out. I’m sorry. I don’t want to be the first to go but, I’m just—I can’t move.
With that, Brittany was removed from the show, taking her out of the heat of the Moroccan sun along with it. Though she came in with higher ambitions, even she admitted that she wasn’t entirely surprised that she was the first celebrity to be going home that season.
“I knew I was going to be first. So embarrassing,” she admitted, trying to add a bit of humor to the end of her short-lived time on the show. Beyond Brittany, there are 17 other celebrities who are hoping to prove they’re made of tougher stuff. Among the remaining contestants are other reality TV legends like Teresa Giudice, Gia Giudice, Eva Marcille, and Kody Brown.
New episodes of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test will continue to air every Thursday at 9pm ET, only on Fox.
