David Letterman is synonymous with the late-night circuit like fellow industry big names Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, and Jon Stewart. And while this Emmy Award-winning host has accomplished quite a lot in his decades-long career, the topic of his relationships and romantic misdemeanors have been in news quite a lot in the last decade.
Especially after Paris Hilton and other celebrities came forward with stories of how Letterman made them feel uncomfortable during their interviews on his late-night talk show. He has even been at the center of a cheating scandal just six months after marrying his partner of 23 years in 2009.
Maybe that’s why people are curious to know who David Letterman’s wife is. Fans want to know if his wife is still with him after he admitted to cheating on her with production crew subordinates of the Late Show with David Letterman, including his assistant Stephanie Birkitt.
David Letterman’s Wife Is Quite A Bit Younger Than Him
David Letterman’s current wife is Regina Lasko; the two have a 13-year age difference between them.
Letterman was born in 1947 and Lasko in 1960. They met in 1986 when she was working as an equipment manager for the NHL team, New York Rangers. They were introduced to each other by Marv Albert, the sportscaster of that time.
Lasko was 26 years old when she met Letterman, and he was 39. But Regina Lasko is not David Letterman’s first wife.
He was previously married to his college sweetheart Michelle Cook between 1968 and 1978. But the pair divorced, apparently because Letterman kept cheating on Cook with his staff (and other women).
It was the same when David Letterman met Regina Lasko and started dating her. He was still living with and dating Merrill Markoe, the head writer of the Late Show with David Letterman. He is said to have waited to break up with Markoe until two years after he officially started dating Lasko.
Regina Lasko remained David Letterman’s partner for 23 years before they tied the knot in 2009.
But within six months of their marriage, people discovered that Letterman had been cheating on her with many of his female subordinates. He admitted it himself on the Late Show.
Unlike Michelle Cook though, Regina Lasko chose not to leave Letterman when his infidelity was brought to light. But she stopped going to public events with him for a long time.
How Old Was Regina Lasko When She Gave Birth?
David Letterman and Regina Lasko welcomed home their baby boy Harry in 2003.
Letterman was 56 and Lasko was 43 years old when she gave birth to their son. Harry is Letterman’s only child.

Interestingly, Regina Lasko almost broke up with David Letterman once because he did not want to start a family. The pair welcomed home their son when they were still unmarried and only tied the knot when Harry was six years old.
Not much is known about Letterman’s son, but he turned 18 in 2021 and appeared alongside his mother (Regina Lasko) on Letterman’s last day special on the Late Show with David Letterman in 2015.
Stephen Colbert replaced Letterman after that and the show’s name was then changed to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Is David Letterman Still Married To Regina Lasko?
Yes. Despite the cheating scandal, Regina Lasko decided to stay with her husband.
They are still married today. But Lasko stopped appearing alongside Letterman in public events for many years after his infidelity was brought to light. It’s only recently that the two were seen together in public again.
While not much is known about Lasko’s feelings about her husband cheating on her, Letterman once revealed that she forgave him after a long time. The two have been together for more than three decades, and they even worked together for a while.
Regina Lasko has a BA in Film and Television from Northwestern University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
After she started dating David Letterman, she worked as a production manager on Letterman’s Late Show until 1989. And then as a production manager on one episode for SNL in 1989. She has even worked as a production manager for the 1991 soap opera Another World.
Not much is known about what Regina Lasko does professionally at the moment. But she was quoted as an “ex-production manager” in one report, so there’s a possibility she is retired now. Lasko was 62 years old at this time so that’s highly likely.
Letterman though has not retired from his career as an entertainer and host. He is currently 76 years old.
After moving on from the Late Show, Letterman signed a contract with Netflix to bring a new show to life: My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.
The show has completed four seasons already and hasn’t been canceled. And it has featured many illustrious guests throughout its many seasons, including Barack Obama, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, and Shak Rukh Khan. He even visited Kyiv to interview Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a fourth season special episode of the show.
