James Martin, the well-known chef from Saturday Morning, is reportedly set to tie the knot for the first time with his partner, personal trainer Kim Johnson. At 53, Martin had previously expressed no intention of marrying, but it appears he is now embracing this significant milestone in his personal life.

According to sources, Martin proposed to 39-year-old Johnson after they spent nearly two years together. An insider shared with The Sun, “Since meeting Kim, everyone has noticed a positive transformation in him, and he seems happier than ever.”

Back in April 2020, during an interview with Prima, Martin admitted that his career had always taken precedence over personal commitments, leading to some regrets about not following a more “conventional” path.

He revealed, “The biggest downside of my career is sacrificing everything for it. I see my friends, all married with children, while I focused solely on work.”

He reflected further, stating, “The level of dedication required and the decisions you make can significantly impact your personal life.”

“But would I do the same thing again? Probably, because it’s made me who I am. And why does everybody have to follow the norm anyway?”

He once declared: “Marriage doesn’t interest me in the slightest.”

But personal trainer Kim, who he started dating in March 2024, is said to have made him “happier than ever”.

Meanwhile, James has splashed out a huge £150,000 on a brand new car for his girlfriend Kim.

While he tends to keep quiet about his personal life, Kim showed off her Christmas surprise to friends on Instagram on Thursday and claimed she was “gobsmacked”.

Sharing a photo of her new Land Rover to her Story, she wrote: “James Martin I am speechless!!”
