Janet Jackson celebrated her 60th birthday surrounded by the warmth and affection of her loved ones.
The iconic “Rhythm Nation” star took to Instagram on Sunday, May 17, to share a touching video that captured the joyous occasion. The celebration, orchestrated by her family and friends, featured a day-long party organized by her older sister, La Toya Jackson, who is now 69.
In the 10-minute video clip, Janet is seen arriving at a beautifully decorated home where her loved ones eagerly welcomed her. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, and dancing as guests sang “Happy Birthday” and delivered heartfelt tributes to the singer.
Expressing her gratitude, Janet wrote in the video caption, “The love I’ve received today has been overwhelming. You’ve all made my 60th birthday truly special. Every post, tribute, and wish touches my heart. I thank God for each additional day and for having you all in my life. May blessings return to you, and I can’t wait to see you all soon. I love you. ♥️ J.”
The Jackson family, famously led by Joe and Katherine Jackson, extends far beyond the legendary Jackson 5. While Michael Jackson, the late pop sensation, was perhaps the most renowned member, Janet follows closely behind. Many of their eight siblings have carved out their own paths in the music and entertainment industry since their early years.
Janet turned 60 on Saturday, May 16.
In an Instagram tribute, Janet’s older brother, Jackie Jackson, wrote, “Happy Birthday to my incredible sister Janet! 🎉 So proud of the woman and legend you are. Wishing you love, joy, and endless blessings today and always. Love you, sis! ❤️”
Janet is the youngest of the 10 Jackson siblings born to Joe and Katherine Jackson. Her older brother, the King of Pop Michael Jackson, died at age 50 in June 2009 from cardiac arrest, which was caused by a propofol and benzodiazepine overdose.
Michael was recently commemorated on the big screen in the biopic Michael, starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson, who is the son of his brother Jermaine Jackson.

Janet is not depicted as a character in the hit movie, which also stars Colman Domingo as Jackson patriarch Joe and Nia Long as matriarch Katherine.
“I wish everybody was in the movie. She was asked and she kindly declined so you have to respect her wishes,” La Toya told Variety at the movie’s Los Angeles premiere in April. (Janet did not attend the premiere.)
Michael has also been criticized by the late pop star’s only daughter, Paris Jackson, after Domingo reportedly claimed that Paris helped him prepare for his role as Joe.

Paris described the film as “sugarcoated,” writing, “A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it. … The narrative is being controlled and there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. Go enjoy it. Do whatever. Leave me out of it.”
