Jelly Roll has unveiled his clean-shaven visage for the first time in years.
The 40-year-old artist surprised his Instagram followers on Thursday, November 20, by sharing a glimpse of his face without the beard he had maintained for a decade.
“Hey, everyone! You might have noticed I now resemble a [Teenage Mutant] Ninja Turtle,” he quipped with humor. “Yeah, it’s a wild change.”
He elaborated, “I initially grew a beard because my weight made it easier to hide certain features.” Jelly Roll, who has been open about his impressive weight loss journey, has shed over 200 pounds.
Jelly Roll then opened up about his three 2026 Grammy nominations, calling it the “craziest thing that’s ever happened in his life.”
He recalled learning about his first nominations in 2023 for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group, telling followers, “This is the only time I’ll ever be at the Grammys. To be coming back three years later with more nominations than I’ve ever had is just — first of all, the gratitude.”
The singer added, “I don’t care what artists say, I don’t care what artists act like, I’m gonna tell you the real truth. There’s not an artist in the world who didn’t grow up watching the Grammys when they were a kid and walking their bedroom afterward and rehearsing their speech.”
Jelly Roll gushed that when he looks at his nominations, “all [he sees] is God. I almost want to cry.”

He then got emotional, holding back tears as he talked about his nomination for Country Album of the Year. “It’s not even about the album or the nom, it’s about the name. I look at all my friends in this category and then I see … Beautifully Broken.”
“Win, lose or draw, holy f***, we won,” he gushed. “I feel honored.”
Jelly Roll concluded the video by encouraging fans to “make fun” of his chin in the comments section. “I thought my chin was at least a half inch further than it actually went. Failed science experiment,” he said with a laugh.
Along with Best Contemporary Country Album, Beautifully Broken, Jelly Roll is up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his hit with Shaboozey, “Amen,” and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for his song “Hard Fought Hallelujah” with Brandon Lake.
Jelly Roll previously teased that he was shaving his beard via his wife Bunnie Xo’s Instagram.
“I have been with my husband for going on 10 years now,” Bunnie Xo, 45, said. “I have never seen this man without his facial hair.”
“As women, we get catfished because we don’t know what the hell is under there,” she joked. “My husband is going to shave off his beard completely, because now that he’s also skinny — look at that jawline — we wanna see that jawline, right ladies?”
While Jelly Roll shaved his hair off, Bunnie Xo gushed that he looked “really good” but didn’t reveal his results. He gushed that he “loved” his new look in the background of the clip.
“Hey guys, he will show y’all when he’s ready ❤️,” Bunnie Xo wrote in the comments section.
