Jennie Garth Breaks Silence on Tori Spelling’s ‘Heartbreaking’ Departure from 90210 Rewatch Podcast

Jennie Garth has expressed her disappointment over Tori Spelling’s departure from their shared “Beverly Hills, 90210” rewatch podcast. After six years of co-hosting “9021OMG,” Spelling made the choice to leave, a decision that Garth admits makes her sad.

During the latest episode released this Friday, Garth opened up with a candid discussion. She addressed some “housekeeping things” right from the start, signaling the need to discuss what fans have been speculating about.

“It’s hard for me to wrap up without her,” Garth shared earnestly. “We embarked on this journey together, and it genuinely saddens me to miss her involvement. Yet, I’m truly pleased that [Spelling] is prioritizing herself,” she added, always straightforward with her emotions.

Producer Amy Sugarman, who has been part of the podcast, chimed in to clarify the situation. “As everyone is aware, Tori hasn’t been recording with us for some time now; there are numerous reasons for her absence,” Sugarman informed listeners, providing insight into the situation.

Sugarman continued by sharing more on the backstory, “Around two weeks ago, she made this decision. It must have been incredibly challenging for her, but she communicated to us that she decided not to move forward with the podcast.” Her statement gave fans a sense of the difficult decision Spelling had to make.

“This was 100 percent her decision. And look, two things can be true: we can be really bummed and disappointed that she’s not going to do Seasons 9 and 10 with us, with you, while still wanting her to be happy and to be excited for her about the things she’s working on and does want to do.”

Addressing fans’ questions about Spelling’s whereabouts on the podcast, Suagrman added that they “had all decided together that today was the day we were going to tell everybody.”

Garth, 54, finally jumped in to beg audiences to stick around as they would be bringing in special guests to rewatch Seasons 9 and 10 of “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Just yesterday, Spelling broke the news to her fans via Instagram Live, revealing that she had chosen to step away from the podcast.

Per Entertainment Weekly, the “Scary Movie” actress, 53, told their former co-star Brian Austin Green, who had joined her for the Live, that she wanted to pursue other projects.

Spelling and Garth played Donna Martin and Kelly Taylor, respectively, in the show, which ran from 1990 to 2000. The two reprised their roles in the 2019 revival, “BH90210,” and kicked off the rewatch podcast in November 2020.

Speaking to People about their podcast in October 2020, Spelling said, “We’ve been friends for 30 years. We’ve gone through decades of change as women, we’re moms now and it’s really the one relationship that has stayed all this time!

“Fans always say to us, ‘We can’t believe you’re actually best friends.’ We wanted to do a girlfriends podcast and then blended it with ‘90210’ to do it for the fans. We have a lot to talk about.”
