Jennifer Lopez opened up about the growth she underwent after her bombshell divorce from Ben Affleck.
“It was the best thing that ever happened to me because it changed me,” the actress told CBS News’ “Sunday Morning” while reflecting on how she reconciled her homelife after the 2024 breakup.
“It didn’t change me,” she clarified. “It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow [and] become more self-aware.”
“I’m a different person now than I was last year, a year and a half ago,” Lopez, 56, stated.
Elsewhere, the “On the Floor” singer explained that filming her forthcoming movie, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” served as a “refuge” for her during the “best and the worst of times.”
“Every moment on set, and every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy,” she said, sharing that she would feel “not great” when returning home until she learned how to “reconcile” her emptiness.
“You get through it,” Lopez added.
The “Enough” star also shared that she was in a “good place,” saying the past summer was “probably the best” she had yet to experience.
“I had so much fun. I’m able to enjoy things more … I don’t have as much pressure,” she said.
“I realized that the joy is in living and these moments and really embracing life and everything it brings to you.”
Lopez also praised Affleck, 53, for financing the film after she told the actor that she was “born” to play the role of Ingrid Luna.
“He helped make it happen,” the “Selena” actress said.
In August 2024, Lopez filed for divorce from the “Gone Girl” star after they quietly split earlier that year.
The exes, who ended their first engagement in 2004, gave their relationship a second shot in 2021 and tied the knot the following year.
Since their breakup, the duo have been spotted together and reportedly remain “on friendly terms.”
