Jennifer Lopez was a bit shocked along with many fans when photos emerged of ex-husband Ben Affleck getting cozy with his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, a source tells In Touch exclusively.

“J. Lo can’t help being in her feelings about all the talk regarding Ben and Jen Garner’s overly flirty friendship. She definitely raised her eyebrows when she saw the photos,” the insider says of the pictures showing Ben, 52, and Jen, 52, looking so happy together at their son Samuel’s 13th birthday party on Sunday, March 2.

In photos obtained by The Daily Mail, Ben and Jen — who divorced in 2018 after 13 years of marriage — were shown smiling and laughing together at a Los Angeles paintball park. TMZ obtained a video of the Gone Girl star putting his hand playfully around the Peppermint actress’ waist as she fired off a paintball gun.

“When J. Lo and Ben reunited and eventually married, she was secure in what they had. Even though J. Lo thought his closeness with Jen was odd, she was confident. She just thought that Ben and his ex were closely bonded because of the three kids they shared, the fact that Jen really helped him get clean and sober, and of course, Jen was with John [Miller]. But now, like the rest of the world, she’s questioning whether there’s more to their relationship than they’re letting on,” the source continues.

“As hard as it was for her, J. Lo has moved on from Ben. She hopes the best for him, his kids and even for Jen and John. But the idea that Ben and Jen were rebuilding their relationship while she was so invested in him hurts,” the insider adds. “Who knows, maybe Ben and Jen are just super close exes. It still seems weird. Looking at those pictures, even for J. Lo, who’s very skeptical about romance rumors, those photos tell a different story.”

Ben and Jen share three children: 19-year-old Violet, 16-year-old Seraphina “Fin” and Samuel, 13. The duo announced their split in 2015, but didn’t finalize their divorce until October 2018, after Jen supported The Accountant star through several rehab stints for alcohol addiction.

The same year Ben and Jen divorced, she began dating businessman John. The pair briefly split in 2020 before getting back together the following year.

J. Lo, 55, and Ben rekindled their romance from the early aughts in 2021. The pair eloped to Las Vegas in July 2022, and the “Waiting for Tonight” singer filed for divorce on August 20, 2024. The date happened to fall on the two-year anniversary of J. Lo and Ben’s lavish formal Georgia wedding in 2022.

The Hustlers star cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, and revealed in court papers obtained by In Touch that she and Ben had separated on April 26, 2024. The former couple’s divorce was finalized on February 20, less than two weeks before the flirty photos of Ben and Jen surfaced.

While the Oscar winner and the 13 Going on 30 star aren’t getting back together, the duo are in a really great place.

“It’s no secret that Ben’s relationship with his ex is better than ever. Ben and Jen haven’t had this many laughs or been this comfortable with each other in years,” a source told In Touch on Wednesday, March 5. “It’s like they’re newlyweds again, except it’s nothing like that. They’ve developed a true friendship.”

The insider added, “They not only like each other again, but Jen respects and trusts him with her life. They’ve come a long way and been through a lot.”

A second source exclusively told In Touch on March 5, that while Ben isn’t interested in rekindling his romance with the Alias alum, “He credits her for never giving up on him and he’s grateful for what he and Jen have today.”

“Ben has joked with Jen that if he had a time machine and could bring the guy he is today to his marriage to Jen back then, they’d probably still be together,” the insider revealed. “But there’s no use in speculating what could have been. They really get along now.”
