Jenny McCarthy continues to stand by Jim Carrey.
Following the comedian’s attention-grabbing appearance at the César Awards last month, where many deemed his look “unrecognizable,” McCarthy addressed rumors, firmly stating that Carrey had not been “cloned.”
Speaking with People at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2026, she dismissed the conspiracy theories suggesting Carrey was replaced by a “clone,” confidently asserting that it was “most certainly Jim Carrey” at the French event.
Instead of dwelling on the speculation, she highlighted his apparent contentment during the ceremony.
“He seemed genuinely happy at that award show, which made me happy for him,” she shared with the publication. “That was the first thing that struck me. I thought, ‘Wow, Jim looks really joyful.’”
McCarthy’s husband, Donnie Wahlberg, chimed in, noting, “You know, that’s the part that, sadly, people miss. We’re so obsessed with how he looks that we didn’t consider how happy he looked.”
McCarthy, 53, and Carrey dated from 2005 to 2010 before she moved on with the “Blue Bloods” actor, 56, in 2013.
In early March, the “Ace Ventura” comedian, 64, sparked wild social media theories when he looked unrecognizable at the César Awards.
“You can’t convince me they didn’t clone Jim Carrey…,” wrote one suspicious user on X at the time.
“I’ve been talking about human cloning for a long time and I’m glad to see it finally gain some traction. Jim Carrey was cloned years ago. Something has changed behind the scenes to allow us to see unfinished and malfunctioning clones,” another added.
“I don’t understand why people don’t think this is Jim Carrey! He just had some bad plastic surgery…,” a third person claimed.
However, his rep, Marleah Leslie, shut down allegations, telling us, “Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award.”
Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the César Awards, also slammed the impersonator allegations, calling Carrey’s rare outing “a historic moment.”
“Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation,” Caulier told Variety, noting that Carrey “worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words.”
Caulier revealed that the “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” actor attended the award show with “his partner, his daughter, his grandson and 12 close friends and family members.”
“His longtime publicist accompanied him. His old friend Michel Gondry, who has made a film and two series with him, was there, and they were delighted to see each other again,” he continued. “For me, it’s a non-issue. I just remember his generosity, his kindness, his benevolence, his elegance.”
Meanwhile, a plastic surgeon speculated that his appearance was achieved with a “major surgical transformation” that cost over $60,000.
Carrey took a break from acting in the late 2010s, telling the Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that he “didn’t want to be in the business anymore” and wanted to focus on other creative passions.

However, he returned for a voice-acting role in 2024’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” after running out of money.
