Jeremy Clarkson, who turns 65 on Friday 11 April, is in a fresh row with his local council after it put the breaks on plans for his Cotswolds pub, The Farmer’s Dog. It’s been revealed that the Amazon Prime star submitted an application to West Oxfordshire District Council to retain the hard surfacing of the staff car park and add more spaces for customers.

The move comes as a flood of visitors has descended on the pub near Burford since Clarkson took over. While Oxfordshire County Council hasn’t objected, it has cautioned that if the local planning authority rules the car parks aren’t an “established lawful use,” Clarkson may be required to submit a separate application, along with detailed traffic and flood risk assessments.

Clarkson’s agent insists that permission already exists for parking up to 170 vehicles and says the application merely seeks approval to keep the current hard-standing areas in place. The agent also urged the council to give the green light “without delay.”

This latest run-in isn’t the first time Jeremy has clashed with the council. He’s previously battled over car parking and a restaurant at his nearby Diddly Squat Farm, now a must-visit for fans of Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime. The upgrades at the pub are part of a broader effort to improve facilities for the growing number of fans flocking to the area.
