In a serious traffic incident on New Year’s Day, four individuals were injured near Jeremy Clarkson’s pub in Burford, Oxfordshire. The collision, occurring between the A40 and B4047 close to The Farmer’s Dog, took place at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 1. Emergency responders swiftly arrived, with fire service crews aiding paramedics in delivering urgent medical assistance to those affected.
The Thames Valley Police informed the Oxford Mail that the four people involved in the accident suffered significant injuries and are currently undergoing hospital treatment. At present, no arrests have been reported. PC Craig Ridgley from the Roads Policing Unit urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.
He further encouraged motorists in the vicinity to review their dash cam footage for any evidence that might be valuable to the investigation.
Individuals with information are advised to reach out to the police by dialing the 24-hour non-emergency line at 101, referencing case number 43260000848, or by submitting a report online.
The Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service notified drivers about the accident and subsequent road closure. Two fire engines from the Witney and Burford stations, along with a specialized rescue unit from Kidlington, were dispatched to manage the situation.
A spokesperson for the service said: “Due to a road traffic collision, the A40 is currently closed outside The Farmer’s Dog pub near Burford and the roundabout with the B4047.
“Please expect significant traffic disruption in the area and plan to use an alternative route.”
Clarkson’s pub opened up in 2024, and has been a huge success with locals, bringing in punters from around the country after vowing to sell British produce to help support farms.
The pub has been featured in the latest series of Clarkson’s Farm, which follows the Top Gear host as he runs his Diddly Squat farm, as well as producing Hawkstone lager and cider.
