Jessica Mulroney, Meghan Markle’s former (and possibly still close) friend, may have royal watchers buzzing again — this time over rumors that she could be penning a memoir.
The Canadian stylist, who was once Meghan’s trusted confidante, reportedly has publishers offering seven-figure advances to hear her side of the story, and speculation is running wild about what secrets she might share.
Mulroney and Meghan were inseparable for years. Jessica’s children even had special roles in Meghan and Prince Harry’s 2018 wedding: her twin boys, Brian and John, were page boys, while her daughter, Ivy, served as a bridesmaid. Jessica was reportedly one of the first people Meghan called after Harry proposed in a private garden at Kensington Palace in 2017. But the friendship appears to have cooled around 2020, following Mulroney’s online controversy in which she was accused of exhibiting “white privilege.” Around the same time, her television and philanthropic endeavors in Hollywood were also affected.
“Jessica knows where the bodies are buried. Meghan will be worried,” an OK Magazine source said. “She was once Meghan’s closest confidante and the keeper of her secrets. She knows everything.”
Despite the rumors, Jessica has publicly denied plans for a tell-all book. She told the outlet she would “absolutely not” write about her friendship with Meghan. However, publishers reportedly see enormous potential in her story. The Mirror (via Daily Mail) claims that “Jessica’s explosive story is the one publishers want to get their hands on,” noting that she could command more than a million-dollar advance if she decides to share her experiences. Royal watchers, according to the report, are “rushing to know what really happened between them.”
Some sources suggest a memoir could be Mulroney’s chance to reclaim her voice after years of silence. “Jessica was let down and hurt by these false accusations swirling around her. She was really put through the mud in 2020 and has had an emotional time since then,” an insider told The Mirror. Writing a book could allow her to address long-standing rumors, including false stories about her handling of Princess Charlotte during the 2018 bridesmaid dress fitting, and offer her perspective on life in the royal spotlight.
While neither Meghan nor Jessica has confirmed the details of their current relationship — and the fact that they no longer follow each other on social media has fueled speculation — one thing is clear: if a memoir ever comes to light, it could be one of the most anticipated royal-adjacent reads in recent years.
