The show’s producers, Blink49 Studios, announced their decision in a statement to Variety on February 10, expressing their commitment to maintaining the series’ standards and values. “In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in ‘The Golden Life,’” the statement read, underscoring the studio’s stance on the incident.
The controversy erupted after Zarin posted on Instagram criticizing the halftime show for apparently lacking diversity, stating that it “looked like a political statement, because there were literally no white people in the entire thing.” Despite quickly deleting the post, it was captured and disseminated by content creator Gibson Johns on X, sparking widespread debate.
