As the couples from Love Is Blind Season 9 matched and met in real life, it wasn’t long before they were whisked off to a group trip in Mexico. While there, the newly engaged pairs of the Netflix reality TV show got to mingle with one another, drinking at their luxury hotel.
While this made for a fun time for some, there was one couple for whom it brewed trouble. When cast member Joe Ferrucci drank too much, he quickly exited the party and later caused a fight with his partner Madison—and now he’s spoken out about what actually went down.
Joe Blames The Show’s Open Bar For His Behavior
When the cast was first allowed to interact with one another in-person, they gathered together at an outdoor patio, where Joe could be seen ordering drinks and even shots for himself and the other men in the cast. Unsurprisingly, he eventually became too drunk to remain at the party, and he told his fiancée Madison that he was returning to their hotel room.
Later, when Madison went to check on him, she became upset when Joe seemed to have no recollection of what happened, and that he was so drunk he was unable to hold a conversation with her. She described his speech as “incoherent,” which only seemed to fuel Joe, who grew angry and said he simply didn’t understand what Madison wanted from him, leaving her to cry outside alone.
Now that some time has passed, Joe opened up to People about what it was like to watch back the awkward scene. While Joe certainly regrets getting so intoxicated, he joked to the outlet that there was no way he was going to miss out on the free alcohol:
I don’t know if you’ve heard of the term open bar, but I think I took full advantage of that. I definitely could have paced myself a little bit better, but emotions are high. Everybody’s having so much fun. Then I think I probably got the worst of it.
“I mean, I did not need to drink that much, but it was a lot,” he confessed.
Madison Is Still Upset About The Moment
For her part, Madison isn’t able to laugh off the incident as easily. She shared that what transpired that night was “actually worse than” what the cameras captured. She elaborated that it was particularly upsetting to see that while Joe seemingly couldn’t hold a conversation with her while she was checking on him and trying to bring him water, he had no problem popping up and asking if there was any food.
Madison also noted that, at one point, Joe appeared more concerned about how he was coming off during filming than he was with how he was treating her:
It was really disheartening, [that that was] how he chose to show up for me. Yes, what you saw is exactly how it happened, if not worse, especially because they cut. There’s a part there where, when I wake him up, he’s like, ‘Why are the cameras here?’ And he actually gets mad at me. And the producer was like, ‘Joe, you knew we were filming tonight.” It was disgusting.’
As of now, it remains unclear whether Madison and Joe are still together today.
