Johnny Galecki And Melissa Rauch

Melissa Rauch has moved on with her career, getting cast in Night Court. However, she hasn’t forgotten about The Big Bang Theory. In fact, she was surprised by her former showrunners on the first day of her new sitcom. This made Rauch very emotional.

Big Bang Theory fans will be pleased to know that Rauch is indeed open to a reboot of the show, but not in the near future.

In the following, we’re going to take a closer at Rauch’s time on The Big Bang Theory, and how she was conflicted with how long her run on the show would last. Rauch ended up getting full-time status, but things were a lot more uncertain at the start.

We’ll also take a closer look at Rauch’s relationship with Johnny Galecki, and how the two were able to hit it off quickly behind the scenes. In truth, Galecki had a couple of close bonds, and that included his relationship with Jim Parsons. The two got close from the start after using a unique tactic to get to know each other on a deeper level.

Melissa Rauch Thought Her Gig On The Big Bang Theory Was Only Going To Be Short Term

Playing the role of Bernadette, Melissa Rauch turned into a series regular on The Big Bang Theory. However, at the start, she was on an episode to episode basis. When Rauch finally got the offer to appear full-time, it relieved lots of tension.

Rauch revealed alongside EW, “It was almost like it was a trial run, meaning I wouldn’t know week to week if I was going to be on. And then at one point, it just became all episodes, which was a huge shift because I had a little more stability.”

Although it was a nervous experience, Rauch admitted from a creative standpoint, it was the right way to go about it as the characters weren’t forced, and eased into the show.

“Both Mayim and I were eased in, so I credit the producers with making the transition seamless in that it wasn’t forced down people’s throats. As a fan of the show, if they had been like, Here’s your new cast members!, I think there would have been something very jarring about that,” Rauch revealed.

During her first week on the show, Rauch was already able to create a bonding moment with a fellow cast member, and it took place under unusual circumstances.

New to the show, Rauch had accidentally thrown out her meal ticket. Not sure who to ask for a new one, Rauch decided to do some digging in the trash and find it. While she was doing so, Johnny Galecki appeared.

“You alright there? Just picking through our garbage?”

The moment turned out to be a positive, as Galecki and Rauch became close behind the scenes and it all started with the awkward incident.

“Melissa and I really hit it off. She’s so quick and funny that I just immediately took to her, you know, outside of the trash can incident,” Galecki revealed.

As it turns out, Johnny Galecki was very close to his fellow cast members, particularly Jim Parsons. The two took part in ‘accelerated bonding’ during the early portion of the show.

Johnny Galecki And Jim Parsons Used ‘Accelerated Bonding’ To Get To Know Each Other Quickly After Landing Their Roles On The Big Bang Theory

After they were cast on the show, Johnny Galecki decided to do, as he calls, accelerated bonding with his fellow co-star Jim Parsons. Given that the two were about to star in a major sitcom, it was necessary that they got to know one another on a deeper level.

Galecki recalls the experience alongside Parsons.

“I like to do what’s called accelerated bonding, where you just share a lot with each other,” Johnny Galecki revealed.

“That often requires some wine to open up and be that honest with one another within, like, six hours. [Laughs] And so, we did.”

“We had many bottles of wine and learned we had so many things in common, including that our grandfathers worked for the railroad, and both of our fathers had passed away at a very early age. I think we both passed out on my living room couch at one point. And then we woke up and went to the first reading. Apparently, it went well.”

It went more than well as Galecki and Parsons thrived on The Big Bang Theory for 12 seasons and in truth, their connection was a major part of the show’s success.
