Jon Bon Jovi told fans returning to Wembley Stadium had once felt like nothing more than a “hope and a dream” as Bon Jovi powered through a set packed with classic hits at the London landmark.
The frontman had suffered a setback in July, when a sinus infection forced him to bring a Madison Square Garden concert in New York to an early close. But on Sunday night, he struck a confident note, assuring the Wembley crowd that he intends to keep performing for years to come.
Bon Jovi’s Wembley Stadium show delivered the anthems fans came to hear, including Livin’ On A Prayer, Always, It’s My Life, You Give Love A Bad Name, Wanted Dead Or Alive and Bed Of Roses. Addressing the audience, he said: “It’s a beautiful summer night and I can’t think of a better place to have church than in Wembley stadium.”
He then reflected on the significance of the venue, adding: “We had a hope and a dream that we would be back in this stadium.”

The 64-year-old musician continued: “We played three nights here in 1995 and came back many times and those were some of the favourite times of my life.
“We closed this building (the band played the final shows in the stadium before it closed in 2000 and was demolished and rebuilt) and then they opened this big beautiful new building. We came back in 2019 and planted our flag and made it our home again and we hope to come back many, many more times.”
The frontman also alluded to the surgery he underwent after the discovery one of his vocal cords had atrophied, when he reflected on his recovery, saying: “God knows it was a long one, but it was worth it.”
Bon Jovi will return to Wembley Stadium on September 9 for the final night of their Forever Tour.
