Julia Bradbury recently opened up about significant life changes following her battle with cancer. At 55, the former Countryfile host faced a breast cancer diagnosis in 2021, which led to a mastectomy paired with immediate reconstruction. She also underwent surgery to remove a 6cm tumor and endured chemotherapy. Julia frequently posts updates on her health journey on social media.
In her most recent post, Julia shared how her outlook on life has transformed after her cancer experience. She emphasized that she now understands the true value of time. “Coming through something serious changes your perspective on time,” she narrated in her Instagram post. “I used to believe there would always be more days and weeks ahead.”
Julia went on to say, “After overcoming a significant challenge, I now measure my days differently. I have three things that I protect fiercely.”
In the caption, the mother of three reflected: “For most of my life, I acted as though time was infinite. It’s not.
“Experiencing a major health crisis brought this realization to life, not just in theory. Being told that your time isn’t guaranteed changes how you count your weeks. The surprising outcome is that I’ve stopped dedicating precious hours to things that don’t matter to me.”
Julia revealed she is now “ruthless” about who she spends her time with, therefore prioritises surrounding herself with people who make her laugh.
She added in the caption: “None of it is dramatic. It’s just deciding on purpose, instead of letting the week decide for you.”
Julia has remained candid about her health for years, and has adopted a number of lifestyle changes aimed at maintaining her overall health in an effort to reduce the risk of cancer returning.
This includes following a nutritious diet, cutting sweets out of her home and starting her day with bone broth for breakfast.
