Kandi Burruss has had a wonderful post-Real Housewives of Atlanta life. She has had some big career moments, including being one of the producers behind the hit Broadway revival of Othello, which stars Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal. Still, this doesn’t mean everything is peachy for the singer and actress, and she recently shared some unfortunate news about the relationship between her husband, Todd Tucker, and her mother. Additionally, she revealed that her Aunt Bertha has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Fans will recall that Todd and Mama Joyce butted heads on several occasions on the show. Mama Joyce didn’t want Kandi to marry him as she felt that he was an opportunist, despite having a successful career behind the camera. Viewers will remember Aunt Bertha as part of the Old Lady Gang from the show, as well as her saying, “It could have been a scheme that Todd set up for him to come to you with the bullsh**.”

Kandi recently hosted one of her Amazon Live sessions, and a fan asked her how Todd and Mama Joyce were getting along, as it seemed for a while her mother had accepted that she was wrong about Kandi’s husband. According to Kandi, “Not great.”

The Don’t Be Tardy producer continued, “Let’s see, Friday, they did pretty good. The kids, Ace and Blaze, had graduated from their school, so they were doing pretty good, but by the time I got back from my trip the other day, my mom was back to not feeling us. So, hopefully it’ll change.”

Kandi then laughed and said, “Ya’ll just don’t know. The stuff that is like, who cares, but this stuff that I really be dealing with, ya’ll just do not understand.”

For context, when talking about the online chatter, Kandi is more than likely discussing the fact that NeNe Leakes has had multiple people on her YouTube show recently who have spoken ill of Kandi. This includes Tamar Braxon. This is so much the case that some fans have referred to it as The Kandi Show.

A different fan later asked Kandi for an update on the Old Lady Gang. She opened by saying she didn’t know how to discuss this sensitive topic online. Kandi then said, “We’re having a really hard time because my Aunt Bertha has Alzheimer’s.” She seemed to fight back tears as she continued, “So, trying to manage that. If anybody has ever dealt with somebody in your family going through that, and it gets worse, it’s not easy. So, it’s a time.”
