There has been much talk about Karen Huger over the last few weeks. Naturally, much of these discussions arose thanks to her recent sentencing. Now, it has come to light that the Real Housewives of Potomac star could have simply taken a plea deal instead of risking jail time by requesting a jury trial. Also, the actual amount of time Karen spent in rehab is revealed.

As fans know, Karen was sentenced for her DUI accident on February 26th. As a result, she has two years, with one of the two being suspended. This means she will be wearing an orange jumpsuit for a full year in addition to having fines and probation. 

However, the public criticism isn’t over for Karen just yet. According to TV Deets, Karen could have prevented herself from getting the harsh jail sentence. Of course, she could have done so by not getting behind the wheel after drinking in the first place. However, the outlet says that the prosecution originally only wanted Karen to do a 60-day stint behind bars. Unfortunately, she and her legal team felt that she could avoid jail altogether if she had a jury trial. 

This came after her legal team also tried to have the case thrown out, citing “an illegal search and seizure.” However, the judge denied that motion. 

In more Karen news, there are now rumors that the RHOP star only spent 48 hours in rehab after the official account for the What Else Is Going On podcast posted, “She went to a place called Right Turn for 48 hours. It is a place with rooms meant to look like jail cells so she could experience what that’s like. She also has a continuing relationship with her therapist.”

The tweet is accurate as Karen did spend 48 hours in that facility. However, according to In Touch Weekly, Karen’s attorneys revealed she also began a 28-day treatment at the Beachside Rehab center in Florida on December 29, which would explain why she skipped the RHOP reunion which filmed on January 9.

Karen is also said to have spent 6 days at the Miraval Resort in Arizona in August of 2024. However this is described as being a luxury spa and not a rehab facility.

This is all sad news for Karen and her family. Still, the general consensus is that she will hopefully reflect on her decisions as well as find some healing for the issues that led her to drink and drive on multiple occasions.
