Kathy Griffin confirmed she underwent a third facelift after making headlines due to her recent public appearances.
The 64-year-old comedian detailed her plastic surgery while poking fun at a recent Daily Mail headline that said she had a “VERY taut face.”
“This is my third, yes,” she said about her recent facelift on her “Talk Your Head Off” podcast Tuesday.
“I know that’s so vain!” she continued. “I’m so vain for no reason. No one has ever gone to a Kathy Griffin show to see her beautiful, youthful face. You come to hear my jokes, which is what I want.”
The comedian gave a shout-out to her surgeon, Dr. Ben Talei, who’s based in Beverly Hills, Calif. Dr. Talei did Sia’s facelift, and Griffin noted that the singer had “the best before and after pictures” she had ever seen.
She shared that in addition to her facelift, she got work done on her eyelids and on her chin.
Griffin then acknowledged that her recovery was rough.
“Got the facelift, I’m gonna be honest, it’s painful,” she shared. “So these bitches that are like, ‘It’s like getting a tooth filled! It’s nothing!’ No, it’s painful.”
Griffin later talked about getting photographed by paparazzi and making headlines for rocking her natural hair and no makeup while exercising near her home in Malibu, Calif.
“I think I’m just getting papped a lot because I’m alive,” she said. “And what I mean by that is when you’re at a certain age, you get paparazzi’d because you don’t have makeup on. And when I work out, guess what? I don’t have makeup on.”
“Very taut is also very true!” she joked of her appearance.
Griffin has been very open about her plastic surgeries in the past, including getting a nose job when she was 26 years old.
“I was told repeatedly, ‘You would be pretty if it weren’t for that nose. You’d work more if it weren’t for that nose. Hey have you considered getting a nose job?’” she told People in 2009. “You would think I had a nose the size of Texas.”
“I was young and impressionable and I was told that enough that I started to believe it, so I got a nose job,” she continued.
She also struggled with body image and she said that complications from her liposuction nearly killed her.
“But being on television I was never thin enough,” she said. “[Being on TV] told me that clothes didn’t come in anything larger than a four. That got to me.”
