RHONJ's Kathy Wakile Accuses Melissa Gorga of Manipulating Lunch Date Timeline, Reveals They Met and "Cleared the Air" Before She Announced Plans to Reach Out as Melissa Claps Back, Claiming Kathy Asked Her Not to Speak of Meeting

Kathy Wakile claims her cousin-in-law, Melissa Gorga, was dishonest about a recent lunch date they shared.

Months after Melissa, 45, appeared on Jeff Lewis‘ radio show, where the Real Housewives of New Jersey star claimed she was planning to reach out to Kathy, 59, in hopes of a reconciliation, Kathy is revealing that despite Melissa “making it seem like it was Jeff’s idea” to reach out, the two of them had already met up and “cleared the air.”

“We had run into each other prior to her being on ‘Jeff Lewis’ and doing that interview,” Kathy recalled on the April 23 episode of SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio.

According to Kathy, she and husband Richard “Richie” Wakile, 61, sit on the board of a local charity, and Melissa and Joe Gorga, 50, attended an event they hosted.

“I didn’t see them, but they saw me and didn’t say hello,” Kathy explained. “The next day, Melissa texts me, which was very nice. She reached out and said how sad it was that we were at the same event, and we walked by each other and didn’t say hello.”

Melissa also said in her text, as recounted by Kathy, “I think that there’s things we should talk about. Would you be open?”

While Kathy said, “Shame on [Joe] if he saw me and didn’t come up to me,” she agreed to speak with Melissa.

“We met for lunch and [then] she went on ‘Jeff Lewis’ and acted like, ‘Oh, that’s a good idea, Jeff,’ when we had already had our lunch,” Kathy shared.

Looking back at their lunch date, Kathy described the meeting as “fine,” but she admitted she didn’t “think it went as Melissa would’ve liked it to go.”

After being questioned about whether Melissa wanted to make amends for RHONJ and a potential storyline on future episodes, Kathy confessed to suspecting such.

“I think that could’ve been a really good part of it. Could’ve been, like, potential storyline, but I’m not a storyline. I am my own life,” she stated.

Meanwhile, when asked for a comment, a rep for Melissa spoke out, explaining why Melissa didn’t come forward with the truth about her and Kathy’s lunch date.

“Kathy asked Melissa to please not tell anyone about the lunch and asked her not to mention it on her podcast or [in the] press. Melissa honored Kathy’s wishes and never said it happened,” they claimed to Page Six.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is currently on pause ahead of its 15th season.
