Katie Price has shared her fears of a potential cancer recurrence, over two decades after an initial diagnosis. The 47-year-old former glamour model is currently undergoing medical tests due to recurring pain in the same finger where she previously had cancer.
Talking on her podcast with her sister Sophie, Katie explained she is currently undergoing blood tests after finding she has a low blood platelet count. “I’m tired, no energy,” she confessed. “They [the doctors] said it can affect that and I think you might have to have a blood transfusion to get them [the platelets] back up again. So I’ve got to go back and have my bloods done again.” This is said to be a possible reason for her weight to drop. She described how she initially thought she had low iron before tests showed the issue.
Katie also reflected on her previous battle with cancer in 2002, which occurred while she was pregnant with her eldest son Harvey, now 23.
During this time, Katie developed a rare form of soft tissue cancer on her finger. She told Sophie: “Another thing that’s really weird, you know, when I had cancer years ago.
“For some who didn’t know, when I was pregnant with Harvey, I got cancer, called leiomyosarcoma. If you look at my finger, there is like a hole there and a scar there, I had it cut out twice. Can you see that dent? It never hurt.”
She continued: “But a lump started coming up and I thought I had been riding and done something to my finger. But anyway, cut a long story short, it was leiomyosarcoma, so I had to have MRI scans and all of that for six years until I was clear.”
Now, she has noticed a similar issue on her finger. She first spotted the problem about three weeks ago, wondering if she had injured it. Katie shared: “And it (the pain) still hasn’t gone. So I’m going to get that X-rayed and looked at so I hope it’s not that again.”
Katie is hoping for good news, explaining how she is currently enjoying a positive streak. “This better not be my bad news, and get bad results.
“Because all this is happening, and then normally in my life something good happens and then something bad happens. Let’s hope it’s nothing bad.”
The reality TV star is also preparing to release a new song after a surprise that her 2017 track topped the iTunes charts this week. She has teamed up with a former X Factor contestant and has been in the studio to produce the tune.
