Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have officially made their Instagram debut together, capturing the attention of fans worldwide.
On Saturday, December 6, the pop sensation, aged 41, shared a vibrant collection of photos on Instagram from her time in Japan. “Tokyo times on tour and more,” Perry captioned the post, offering her followers a glimpse into her adventures.
Among the shared images, one stood out: a selfie of Trudeau, 53, with Perry, set against the stunning backdrop of autumn leaves. Another clip revealed an intimate moment during a dinner outing, where Perry tried sushi for the first time. “My first Uni,” she exclaimed, while Trudeau affectionately watched her attempt with a warm smile.
Rumors of a connection between Perry and Trudeau began circulating back in July 2025, when the duo was seen dining together in Montreal, Canada. This sighting occurred just days before Trudeau made an appearance at Perry’s Lifetimes Tour concert in the city. As reported by Us Weekly, a source close to the pair hinted at the budding relationship during that time.
The couple, who were first linked this summer, also visited TeamLabs to see an intergalactic exhibition.
In between Perry’s Japanese Lifetime Tour concerts, she and Trudeau made their public debut during a meeting with former Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida.
“Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner Katy Perry and had lunch with us,” Kishida, 68, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, December 4. “During my time as Prime Minister, I met Prime Ministers many times, and when I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including formulating the ‘Nikka Action Plan.’ I am glad that we are continuing this friendship.”
He continued, “Canada is an extremely important partner to Japan in all areas of politics, security, economics, culture, etc. We will continue to work hard for friendship and cooperation between Japan and Canada.”
Perry and Trudeau even posed for a photo with Fumio and his wife, Yuko Kishida. After the political meeting, Trudeau addressed the outing via social media.
“Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko,” Trudeau wrote via X later on Thursday. “Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.”
Perry and Trudeau were first spotted together in July.
“They’ve decided to be much more private about it,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly months later in September about Perry and Trudeau’s connection. “[They] are very interested in each other.”
The pair’s romance continued to heat up, complete with a trip to Paris for Perry’s 41st birthday in October.
“Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” a second insider told Us after the getaway. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship. Their friends think they are a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.”
Perry’s relationship with Trudeau is her first since she and ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom called off their engagement in June. Perry and Bloom, 48, are now committed to coparenting daughter Daisy Dove, 5.
As for Justin, he split from ex-wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
“Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” the now-exes, who share three kids, said in a joint statement in August 2023. “As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build. For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy.”
