Katy Perry might now be neighbours with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle now that they live in Montecito – but at one point she barely knew the Royal Family.
The Roar hitmaker shared her true feelings for the Duke of Sussex back in 2012, when she flew over to the UK around the time of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. Appearing on The Graham Norton Show at the time, Katy made a confession about the then-unmarried prince.
Sitting alongside Cheryl Cole and Ross Noble on the red sofa, Katy was quizzed: “Were you asked to do [the Jubilee]? ‘Cause in the papers here we heard a rumour that Prince Harry had asked for you by name.”
She replied: “No, I wasn’t. He’s a hot ginger, isn’t he?”
Comedian Ross got a smack from Katy as he questioned her: “Are we sure he asked for her to perform, though? No, it is Harry! He likes the ladies.”
She then added: “I love the monarchy. I’d be open to that!”
When Graham revealed Cheryl had been chatting to the prince, Katy quipped: “Get off my man!” as the audience erupted into laughter, and Graham gasped: “Princess Cheryl! That would be the best wedding ever! Oh do it, go on!”
“I would consider Prince Harry,” the Girls Aloud icon admitted.
Now Katy lives with her own famous partner Orlando Bloom, following her divorce from British comedian Russell Brand in 2012. Katy and Orlando live with their daughter Daisy Dove in their Montecito pad, just down the road from Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet.
Last year she confessed she and Orlando were contemplating moving to London as it’s one of their “favourite cities”, admitting: “We spent all day in Hyde Park, we went to the Princess Diana playground. It’s great for kids. She literally went to a dinosaur-themed high tea today, I mean, where else can you do that?”
