Bravo fans know that the older seasons of The Real Housewives of New York City delivered some truly unforgettable moments.
Among the most notable are the “Scary Island” episodes from the third season of the show, which features Kelly Bensimon butting heads with multiple ladies, including Bethenny Frankel. Now, Kelly is opening up about what wasn’t shown.
Of course, Kelly isn’t the first former RHONY star to discuss the wild three-episode arc. Bethenny also recently hinted at what wasn’t shown and why so much footage was left on the cutting room floor. Notably, the episodes took place in St. John.
Kelly spoke to US Weekly about the wild trip. She lamented, “I didn’t get to do anything fun. I didn’t get to get drunk. I didn’t get to roll around in the leaves or the bushes. I didn’t get to meet the pirate. I didn’t get to have any fun. All I got to do was, like, eat jelly beans and get yelled at. Like, that is not fair.”
Kelly then said that there were moments during the trip when she wanted to quit the show. According to her, “I called my agent right when we were on the boat. I said to him, ‘This is where we’re done here. This is not going my way. There are things that are happening that are organized, and I am going to be this villain for no reason.’”
Despite how bad things got between Kelly and the other RHONY ladies, she says she sent a thank-you note after returning to New York.
Kelly stated, “I always send a thank-you note. It’s important because it’s our job. We’re working, and I just want to say thank you. I appreciate what we do together, and the fans may see it a different way, but for me, I work really hard and I take it really seriously, and I make a concerted effort to be present. I really loved my time on Housewives.”
Of course, Kelly didn’t leave the show until the end of season four. This means she had the chance to go on the cast trip to Morocco. About that experience, she said, “I watched Luann [de Lesseps] almost fall off a camel. It was amazing.”
Kelly went on, “I mean, listen. Life is good, bad, and sometimes very ugly, and you can’t have the good without the bad, and especially on these shows.” Kelly also revealed that fans will ask her about the “Scary Island” trip.
