Sharing the poignant moment with her followers on social media, the 55-year-old reality TV alum revealed that she and Brooklyn, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Daly, made the trip to Michigan to celebrate a special occasion—her grandmother’s 95th birthday. It was during this visit that the long-estranged mother and daughter were finally reunited.
In a heartfelt livestream on March 1, Kenya described the experience, saying, “I haven’t fully processed it yet, but I went to Detroit to celebrate my grandmother’s 95th birthday, and it was an incredible moment. She’s still vibrant and doesn’t look a day over 70. It was a beautiful family gathering.” She expressed her amazement at her grandmother’s youthful appearance and mental sharpness, noting that the matriarch was very much the life of the party.
Kenya shared that the reunion was overwhelming but deeply meaningful, as it allowed her daughter Brooklyn to finally connect with her grandmother, Patricia. This emotional meeting added another layer of joy to an already memorable family occasion.
According to Kenya, the experience was overwhelming for her since she was able to connect Brooklyn with her mom.
“I’d talked [about] her before, you know, in a positive light, and she had been sending Christmas gifts and birthday gifts to Brooklyn. And so, you know, if anyone knows the real me — not what the blogs say — they know I have a special place in my heart for anyone who is kind to my child,” Kenya explained.
Although she noted that she and her mother “have [a] history that is not necessarily pleasant,” she believes she’s done everything she needs to in order to move forward, including forgiving.
“I think when you don’t forgive people, it holds you back. I think forgiveness is more for yourself and not for the other person, and I feel like, obviously, I would be very cautious in moving forward, but I was just happy that they could make that genuine connection,” she explained.
Following the visit, Kenya said Brooklyn asked her, “When can I spend time with grandma?”
“It really touched my heart, and it really made me feel like anything is possible,” she admitted before getting emotional.
“I just want to say thank you, God, for, like, putting myself and my family on the path to healing and giving my daughter an opportunity to know her grandmother in the best part of her and to make her own decisions on if she wants to have a relationship with her mom in her own time … I just wanted to thank God for the blessings and for family cuz no matter what, family is not going to go anywhere,” she noted.

Continuing on, Kenya said she hopes to post more videos and pictures from the party in the near-future.
“It was a happy moment. It was a great moment,” she added. “I’m so happy to see my grandmother’s doing well. I’m so happy to be a part of the family. And I’m happy for my daughter because my daughter loves family. She is obsessed with family, obsessed with being together. She’s just such a loving and empathetic person, and I don’t want to interfere in her own choices in her life and her own discernment and judgement.”
