Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton, 40, has hinted at going through a difficult time in his life a few years ago, while sharing a throwback photo on Instagram.
The dancer uploaded the snap to social media and recalled the “tough time” he was going through at that stage, without going into too many details.
The photo has been met with an outpouring of love from friends, followers, and fellow Strictly family members.
Captioning the old photo for his 380,000 followers, in which the dancer looked almost unrecognisable, Kevin wrote: “Don’t like to talk about it too much in public but a few years ago I wasn’t always doing as well as I always tried to make out.
“Today I’m celebrating the most wonderful past 5 yrs.”

Next to the snap in which the star looked slightly dishevelled while posing without a smile on his face, Kevin shared a transformation picture of himself and partner Stacey Dooley, 36, holding their daughter, Minnie, who they welcomed back in January. Other photos showed Kevin performing on stage after leaving Strictly and taking on multiple roles in big theatre shows.
Followers and friends were quick to inundate Kevin with supportive messages. Strictly judge Shirley Ballas wrote: “Proud of you” next to a love heart emoji.
The post also seemed to resonate with a lot of fans. One user commented: “I think it’s great you can speak out about this.

“I’m not doing so well at the moment either, but I’m working on it and I think that’s what those of us who don’t do so well understand most, we are always working on it.”
A second fan wrote: “Even being able to admit it and share is very brave and important!”
Another former Strictly winner Ore Oduba posted: “So much to be proud of brother.”
Italian dancer Graziano di Prima also praised: “So proud of you my friend.”
Judge Motsi Mabuse simply typed: “Growth,” in the comments, while Daisy Lowe agreed: “I hear you! So happy for you Kev.”
Fans were also keen to share their love and support.
Kevin’s partner Stacey lovingly penned: “My angel. We love you endlessly”, to which Kevin replied: “love u and Mins.”
Kevin and Stacey met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 having been paired together, and a romance between them ensued the following year.
The couple won the Glitterball Trophy before they officially announced their relationship in 2019, after the competition had finished.
