Khloé Kardashian has implemented a strict no-phone policy for her children.
On the Wednesday, January 25 episode of the Khloé in Wonder Land podcast, the reality TV star, 41, revealed that her daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 3 — whom she shares with ex Tristan Thompson — “don’t have social media” or “the internet in any way.”
“My children aren’t familiar with Google or anything similar,” she noted. “I believe they should stay away from social media. There’s no need for them to explore the internet at their age.”
The entrepreneur behind Good American mentioned that her kids perceive TikTok merely as “a dancing video,” without realizing it’s an app.
“We record dance videos, which just involve them having fun and dancing on tables,” she elaborated. “They aren’t aware of trending sounds unless I highlight something for them. They don’t use TikTok or browse through any content.”
The reality TV personality from The Kardashians also mentioned she might allow True to own her first cellphone on her “golden birthday.”
“I told her we can discuss her getting a phone on her 12th birthday,” Kardashian stated. “That doesn’t mean she’ll get social media. That means she gets a phone.”
As for when Kardashian would let her kids have social media, she said she would prefer they be in their teens, noting, “I don’t think kids should have social media until, I mean, I would love 16 [or] 17.”
When it comes to her own social media consumption, Kardashian said she likes to power down her devices at night.
“Every night, starting at 9:30 or 10:00, I flip my phone over so I can’t see it light up, and I don’t touch it until the morning,” she admitted. “I have a landline. If there’s an emergency that my family knows, my landline, they know to call me, and it’s just a universal note.”
