Kimora Lee Simmons has stepped into a nurturing role for the children of Sean “Diddy” Combs and the late Kim Porter, embracing them as part of her family.
During a guest appearance on “Today with Jenna & Friends,” the fashion mogul described herself as a “surrogate mom” to Quincy Brown, 34, King Combs, 27, and the 18-year-old twins, D’Lila and Jessie Combs.
“After my dear friend Kim Porter’s passing, I took in her children,” Simmons shared. “Some are grown up now, but they’re still like my own.”
Specifically mentioning D’Lila and Jessie, Simmons, 50, added, “I was just speaking with them on the phone.”
Following Porter’s passing in 2018, Simmons made a heartfelt promise to care for her friend’s children, expressing in a touching Instagram post, “You will guide and protect us all.”
While Porter originally welcomed Brown with her ex-husband, Al B. Sure!, her son was later adopted by Diddy during their on-again, off-again romance from 1994 to 2007.
The music mogul, who was arrested in September 2024, is currently serving 50 months in jail after he was convicted of transportation for prostitution earlier this year.
He will be released in June 2028.
Also in the interview, Simmons shared she’s the honorary “mom” to a lot of people, saying, “There’s no co-parenting.”
“The kids are with me every day,” she continued. “I have a lot of help. It takes a village, so I have god moms and aunties and friends … It’s really a village of women.”
Aside from taking Porter and Sean’s kids under her wings, the TV personality is the biological mother to daughters Ming, 25, and Aoki, 21, with her first ex-husband, Russell Simmons, whom she was married to from 1998 to 2009.
Kimora also welcomed a now-16-year-old son, Kenzo, with her ex Djimon Hounsou, and a 10-year-old son with her second ex-husband, Tim Leissner, with whom she was wed from 2014 to 2022.
Additionally, the Baby Phat founder adopted her son Gary in 2020 when he was 10 years old.
Kimora put her life as a single mom to five kids on full display for viewers in her new series, “Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane.”
The series premiered Tuesday on E!.
