Season after season, Kyle Richards has made quite a mark as the longest-reigning main cast member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, captivating audiences with her unique blend of authenticity and flair.

Throughout her tenure, viewers have witnessed Kyle navigate a tumultuous journey marked by emotional highs and challenging lows, as well as the inevitable drama that accompanies reality TV fame.

As anticipation builds for the Sunday premiere of her latest venture, The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, Kyle sat down with The Hollywood Reporter. During the conversation, she delved into some of the more sizzling topics surrounding the beloved Housewives franchise.

One thing Kyle, 57, addressed was the producers on the show.

“They’re your friends, your family, you’re endlessly spilling your guts at them,” she shared. “And they are writing it all down.”

“The next thing you know, they will ask you, ‘Why don’t you guys talk about what you’re feeling right now?’” she continued. “And I’m like, ‘I can’t even lie because I already told them what I was feeling!’”

She then explicitly stated that there’s “a lot of manipulation going on.”

“It’s just the way it is,” she added.

Kyle also revealed how producers try to get Housewives to discuss off-camera drama once it becomes public knowledge.

“For example, say something bad comes out on TMZ about a cast member. It’s fair game,” she stated. “Someone has to ask them about it. So they may come to me and I’ll say, ‘You need to get some other sucker to do this. I’m sorry. I’ve been here too long. I am not bringing that s*it up with her.’”

When it comes to her biggest regret on the RHOBH, Kyle admits it was her infamous limo scene with sister Kim Richards on season one.

“In season one, in the back of the limo with my sister [Kim], the world saw a traumatic family dynamic. I still get teary watching it. Would never handle it that way today,” Kyle admitted.

As for what she would have done differently, she shared, “I wouldn’t lunge at Kim in the limo. I also understand alcoholism differently now. And I’ve learned to confront people constructively. It took me 15 years on the show, with everyone watching.”

Kyle also opened up about her separation from Mauricio Umansky, 56, and she admitted fans made her feel like she let them down.

“When my husband and I first got separated, people were totally devastated,” she noted. “It was like it happened to them.”

“I was already feeling like I let down my family,” she continued. “Strangers were reaching out and messaging me, ‘Please don’t get divorced, please.’ That really did get to me after a while.”

She also noted that fans are constantly asking her why she and Mauricio haven’t made a decision and gotten divorced yet.

“I feel like people are expecting an answer from me, and I owe it to them because they’re watching me on television every week,” she claimed.

She also shared that some people told her they “believe in true love,” but she let them down.

“I knew, logically, that I shouldn’t let that affect me,” Kyle added. “But it did.”
