Lala Kent defended Brittany Cartwright amid backlash over season 2 of The Valley, addressed Jax Taylor’s exit from the show – and suggested she’s “in talks” to return to reality TV.
On the current season, some fans have criticized Brittany for filing for divorce when her estranged husband, Jax, was in rehab for a cocaine addiction. Recently, Jax shared that he’s leaving the show to focus on his sobriety.
On her “Give Them Lala” podcast, Lala and her brother Easton addressed how Jax left the show to prioritize his recovery.
“Good for him,” said Easton.
“I agree with you,” Lala responded, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “I just feel like it’s a very delicate situation to be in. Because on the one hand, Brittany is my nearest and dearest friend. She’s one of my best friends. We see each other, right? And I kind of am just following her lead on how she wants me to handle this situation.”
“And no matter what anybody thinks from the outside, recovery is like the most important thing,” she went on. “[Him] taking a step back to focus on recovery and mental health, I think that that is a very smart move, and I think anybody who has half a brain can get behind that statement.”
But Lala clarified that Brittany is “the victim in this.”
“Even the Internet, [Brittany] has said, has been pretty hard on her, and I think that’s completely unfair,” said Lala. “It’s very easy to throw stones from afar … And I think Brittany has handled everything beautifully. She stepped up taking care of her son. No one hustles harder than Brittany Cartwright. And I do see a version at some point of them being able to co-parent in a very healthy way. I think if he puts his head down, focuses on the work, you know, a year goes by so quickly.”
Lala then addressed how she wanted to “fall off the map” for a year after leaving Vanderpump Rules.
“And here we are in talks about, you know, re-entering the world beyond just this podcast,” she said cryptically. “And I’m having a full panic attack. I’m not ready. And it’s been a couple of years. And I’m like, no, no, the time’s done. I’m not done. I’m not done … I need a solid three years off.”
