There have been several celebrity cheating scandals over the years. However, the one involving Eddie Cibrian cheating on Brandi Glanville with LeAnn Rimes was one of the biggest. Now, the singer and actress is reflecting on that dark time and revealing that she felt unfairly targeted by the backlash.

Brandi, 52, and Eddie, 52, tied the knot in 2001. However, he had an affair with LeAnn, 42, while they were filming the Lifetime movie Northern Lights in 2008. She was married to Dean Sheremet at the time. Following this, Eddie and the then Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star divorced in 2010. Eddie married LeAnn the following year. It’s worth noting that Brandi is on good terms with Eddie and LeAnn and sometimes spends holidays with them. 

LeAnn recently opened up about the backlash from the affair in an interview with Flow Space. The country singer said, “I realized very quickly that there are a lot of women who’ve been hurt. Like, I’ve been on both sides of that coin — I’ve been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling.”

She continued, “But so many women don’t know what to do with that anger. … I was a target that was just easily projected upon.” Luckily for her, she realized at a point that “things got a lot easier” when she stopped “taking it so personally.”

LeAnn went on, “This is not all my pain to carry. I know what I’m responsible for in the situation and making amends for that.” While Brandi is on good terms with Eddie and LeAnn these days, this clearly wasn’t always the case. Brandi has admitted to wanting to enact violence toward LeAnn. As it would be for anyone, this was a dark time for her as she was forced to pick up the pieces of her life and move on. 

In recent years, LeAnn has been featured as a mentor on The Voice while Eddie has been on episodes of Home Economics and CSI: Miami.
