Leonardo DiCaprio managed to avoid the red carpet while making his Met Gala debut with girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti.

A Vogue photographer caught DiCaprio, 50, attending Monday’s event at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City alongside Ceretti, 26. Shying away from the spotlight, the actor covered his face as he was photographed. Vogue published the black-and-white photo on Wednesday, May 7, two days after the fashion magazine, and its editor Anna Wintour, threw its splashy annual soiree. 

Ceretti strutted up the steps of the museum without DiCaprio on her arm. The supermodel wore a dark blue pinstripe minidress with a long train, and an ornate diamond necklace. Her boyfriend, meanwhile, sported a classic tux inside the party. 

DiCaprio and Ceretti have been linked since summer 2023. In early April, Ceretti made rare comments about their relationship in an April cover story for Vogue France, which asked about her connection to the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star. The outlet referred to him as a “very, very famous actor.” Ceretti wasn’t interested in going “into details.”

“As soon as you’re in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become ‘girlfriend of’ — or ‘boyfriend of,’ for that matter,” she explained. “And that can be extremely annoying.”

She added, “Suddenly, people are talking about you as so-and-so’s girlfriend who was so-and-so’s ex. So it’s not nice to think that you can’t love whoever you want, because of the labels people need to stick on you.”

According to Ceretti, dating an A-Lister is “something you learn. If what you’re experiencing is real, if you know you love each other, then there’s no reason to be alarmed,” she said. “Because love protects and gives confidence.”

She and DiCaprio were first spotted together in August 2023, partying at a club in Ibiza, Spain, and also grabbing ice cream in California. Months later, Us Weekly confirmed that the couple was “exclusive.”

“Vittoria is all he thinks about,” the insider exclusively told Us in November 2023, noting that the actor is “completely smitten” with Ceretti.

That same month, she was spotted at DiCaprio’s star-studded birthday bash. People reported at the time that the duo was “affectionate and kissing throughout the night.” Last fall, they celebrated his milestone birthday.

“[They] have a lot of respect for each other,” an additional source told Us of Ceretti and DiCaprio’s bond at the time. “They both travel a lot for work and are very supportive of each other’s careers.”

Recently, the couple was photographed playing pickleball with some friends on the beach in December 2024.
