Season 8 of Love is Blind saw five couples get engaged and head off on a vacation in Honduras. While those pairs got to know each other on camera in paradise and while living in the apartments provided by the show afterward, there was one couple who kept their story going long after the pods.
Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption knew they had a connection when they met on Love is Blind. Fans didn’t see as much of them as some of the other couples and completely missed out on their engagement. Kylie and Brian were cut from the show instead of continuing with their fellow pod crew. When Kylie and Brian made their relationship public via social media in February 2025, it was a surprise to everyone.
Since Love is Blind aired, Kylie and Brian have been open about why they were left out of most of Love is Blind, how their love developed after their time on the show, and where they are now. Here’s what they’ve said and where they are now.

Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption Went On Love Is Blind With Similar Mindsets
Both Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption spent a lot of time focusing on their careers before appearing on Love is Blind. Kylie, a medical student, thought that the show would be a good opportunity to meet some eligible men. She explained to Tudum,
“The idea of finding a husband and getting married in [the] short amount of time that I had off from school just sounded like something that could work for me.”
As a busy bar owner and the man behind Minnesota Bartending Services, Brian was also at the right time in his life to look for love, explaining that Love is Blind “seemed right down my alley.”
This common ground was just the start of the similarities between Kylie and Bryan. During their dates, they talked about life, football, and coming from small towns, all of which made their connection feel “really effortless.” Brian said he “knew right away” that Kylie was special. He told Tudum,
“After we aligned on the important aspects of life, we didn’t really take things too seriously and just had fun together.”
Both Kylie And Brian Were Elated When They Finally Came Face-to-Face on Love Is Blind
By the time Brian proposed to Kylie, they knew each other extremely well— so much so that Brian later said, “It would’ve taken some catastrophe for us not to get out of there together.” Kylie said “yes” to Brian immediately when he asked her to marry him and, when they first saw each other, as Kylie recalled:
“The lights were so bright, so I couldn’t see anything at first, but as we got closer, I was like, ‘Oh, he’s cute.’ For some reason, I was keeping my expectations low.'”
Brian, for his part, knew he wouldn’t be nervous as soon as he laid eyes on Kylie.
The reason their engagement and story did not continue on Love is Blind may have been due to the format of the show itself. Love is Blind creator Chris Coelen told Variety that the way Season 8 edited the couples in the pods and the fact that there were more people and, as a result, more couples than ever before prohibited the show from following everyone.
Kylie and Brian had different reactions to not being chosen to move forward with the show and being on camera like the other engaged couples on Love is Blind. The latter was relieved, but Kylie admitted,
“You go on this experiment, and it’s such a unique and intense experience… Obviously, you do want to see your story reflected…. People are like, ‘Well, this couple must be boring,’ or, ‘Producers must not have seen it working out for them,’… But obviously it did … Sometimes [people question if] this is a real process. It definitely is.”
Kylie and Brian were not the only couple the show didn’t follow, according to Coelen, but he didn’t give names.
Kylie And Brian Took Their Own Vacation To Mexico After Leaving the Love Is Blind Pods
Kylie and Brian may not have had cameras rolling when they left the pods, but they followed up their time on Love is Blind with a trip that was very similar to those taken by their fellow castmates. Kylie and Brian went to Mexico, but not before spending time together at the airport first. Kylie detailed how they ended up on an “airport bar crawl” after Brian was running late for his flight:
“I just turned around [in the security line] and went back for him… I ran down the escalator, found Brian, and we missed our flights together. We spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how to get back to Minnesota and did an airport bar crawl.”
Once they were both safely in Minnesota, they took a day before going on a romantic vacation to Mexico.
In the end, both Kylie and Brian are grateful for their time on Love is Blind and that they met but are also happy to have the chance to take part in some of the more “normal” aspects of a relationship. They’re not under any sort of time crunch to get married, and they can take their time getting comfortable with each other and as part of one another’s lives.
