We’re moving on to the second round of pod dates on Season 8 of Love Is Blind. The Minnesotans on the reality TV show are narrowing down their top choices and seeing where their feelings truly lie.
As always, there are challenging love triangles at this stage. Will some of the singles second guess their connections because of competitors?
Tough Love Triangles Create Tension
This episode, we meet Sara, an oncology nurse who tells the cameras that her work in the field has made her realize how short life is. She’s learned that physical appearance doesn’t matter, and that being able to laugh with a partner is the most important thing for her. Sara hits it off with Ben, though they discover that while Ben is pretty religious, Sara isn’t, finding the Church’s stance against the LGBTQ+ community off-putting.
That said, she tells him there’s a little wiggle room if he’s serious about his faith:
I am open to finding a church that accepts all people and others.
There’s a budding love triangle around David, as both Molly and Lauren are vying for his attention. “She’s dating the man I’m trying to marry!” Lauren exclaims to the cameras, starting to tear up. When she goes on her date with David, she tells him it’s been hard to hear another woman talking about her feelings for him.
Meanwhile, Monica and Joey have a silent disco on either side of their pods. They’re finding that they can joke around and also connect on an emotional level. He reassures her when she admits she’s embarrassed to be between jobs right now.
We also pick up with Madison, who tells the cameras she’s torn between her top choices:
I have basically narrowed it down to just two boyfriends, both Mason and Alex. And I’m not ready to decide between the two, which is the weirdest thing to say.
On their date, Mason bashfully says that he hopes he’s her first choice. That said, even he himself is still exploring his connection with Meg, who’s always a burst of energy on their dates.
Devin’s also exploring his connections with Virginia and Brittany, both of whom are older than he is. Virginia says she likes that she can tell he’s a kind and genuine person. That said, his connection with Brittany feels instant and on another level, and they continue to discover more similarities between them on each passing date.
One Couple Officially Commits
We finally get our first engagement when Joey proposes to Monica, both of them giddy in the moment. Meanwhile, Madison admits to Alex that she’s an “avoidant” relationship type, though she assures him she’d never want to make him feel anxious if they were in a relationship together. They bond over the fact that they both want to “do better” in a future relationship than they have in the past. “That’s the whole point of this,” she says to him.
Madison goes on a date with Mason again, doing activities like listening to music and playing mini-golf while still separated by the wall between them. Mason says Madison is a rare person who makes him feel comfortable expressing his emotions. When word gets back to Meg about their connection, she feels hurt and confused. The next time she sees Mason, she reminds him how genuine her feelings for him are and how seriously she’s taking the experiment. “I know I’m not his top,” she concedes to the other women.
At the very end of the episode, we prepare to see the in-person reveal for Joey and Monica. Just as the doors open, we cut away, and we’ll have to tune into the next episode to see more.
