Every season of Love Is Blind has its fair share of heartbreak, and this one is no exception. Netflix recently released a second season of its British spin-off, Love Is Blind UK, and the reality TV show has seen some of the cast members doubting their decisions.
One of the cast members, Katisha Atkinson, struggled in the pods when she had to decide between her two top matches. In the most recent batch of episodes, she finally got to have a conversation with the man she didn’t pick, Demola, and fans aren’t pleased with how it went down.
Katisha Gave Demola False Hope In The Pods
Viewers who watched the pod episodes of the season will recall that, for a while, Demola was Katisha’s first choice, and she was leaning towards getting engaged to him. On one of their last dates, the pair discussed getting closer to marriage, and Katisha even told him, “Don’t worry,” meaning that she was going to call things off with her other connection, Javen.
However, Katisha went on to do a “180” by her own admission, and at the last minute, she decided to accept Javen’s proposal instead of Demola’s. She wasn’t able to give Demola much of a reason why she was dumping him, and he left the experiment heartbroken. Before he departed, however, he did congratulate Javen on his engagement, and even celebrated with the others in the men’s living quarters.
A Reddit thread discussing the season applauded Demola for being so classy:
I have no idea why she picked Javen over Demola. Demola was so sweet and open. He looked so upset when Javen came in engaged but rallied to celebrate him. What a genuinely nice guy. Katisha – you made a mistake, hen!
Katisha Didn’t Apologize To Demola
Now that the couples are out in the real world, Katisha got a chance to meet up with Demola and hash things out in person. While many viewers thought the conversation would bring them closure, they were surprised to see that Katisha once again didn’t have much of an explanation to give Demola. In fact, she even told Javen later that she “didn’t apologize” to Demola because she didn’t have anything to be sorry about.
In the aforementioned thread, fans chimed in that they’d hoped Katisha would’ve been more empathetic towards Demola after pulling a bait and switch on him. One user summed up the frustration with Katisha’s supposed lack of self-awareness:
I’m a little annoyed at Katisha’s indifference to Demola’s experience. I wanted to give her a little grace on editing but I think when the guys confirmed that she changed her mind in a day and when she appeared to not see anything wrong with telling Demola that he was her top pick and then getting engaged to Javen the next day I was so disappointed! I think she’s a beautiful person, but she comes across as lacking some self-awareness and self-esteem and and I hope when she watches this back she considers deeply reflecting on this experience and how she can impact other people with her choices.
Other users in the thread wondered if Katisha was more concerned about her reputation and the way that the other couples perceived her, because what she really wanted was to become an influencer after the show. More episodes of the season will be available next Wednesday, and viewers will have to tune in to see what becomes of Katisha.
