Love Is Blind is facing questions about its vetting process again, as Season 8’s Alex Brown is accused of disturbing behavior involving minors. The reality TV star was initially praised for not proposing to Madison Errichiello in the pods.
In Season 7, one of the show’s cast members disappeared amid sexual assault allegations. Similar to that case, there have also been warnings against Alex in Facebook dating groups. The series’ creators previously admitted to not checking participants’ social media for LIB’s sister show, The Ultimatum. Now, that may have to change for both experiments.
Love Is Blind Season 8’s Alex Is Accused Of Inviting Only Underage Females To Parties
Alex Allegedly Sold Alcohol To Minors And Asked For “Sexual Pleasures From Them”
In a Reddit post, a user shared screenshots of allegations made against Alex on social media. “Will not be making a video but Alex used to throw parties in his 20s and would invite only high schoolers…was 16/17 underage drinking while he was banging my friend,” one wrote on Tiktok.
Another commenter shared a similar story about Alex, saying “he was best friends with my best friend for a decade and he prefers his girlfriends to ‘dress and act young.’” But claims were even more explicit on Facebook.
“This guy was ripped to shreds on local dating [Facebook] groups in Minnesota because he would sell alcohol to minors and then ask for sexual pleasures from them,” one wrote.
They went on to allege that Alex had “dated many [minors] and was a narcissist as well.” They even described his “sweet personality” in the pods as “his first step.” They added that the warning posts on Facebook groups were made before the show but have since been deleted.
Love Is Blind Fans Think Madison Noticed Alex’s Red Flags In The Pods
Madison Didn’t Like Alex’s “Toxic Positivity”
Madison was also seen liking a TikTok comment about Alex’s allegations. It prompted some Redditors to defend Madison from the criticism and look at Alex’s red flags as well. “This sub really gets off on hating women contestants (this season it’s Madison), but I thought he was a dud,” one said.
They also addressed Alex’s “sweet” persona, saying: “Between the ‘I have childhood trauma but I can’t be mad at the ppl who hurt me bc I’m so sweet‘ schtick and the constant hesitancy towards any possible challenges in a normal relationship, he was annoying to watch.”
They then slammed Alex for “posturing himself to be the ultimate nice guy.” Speaking to People about their breakup, Madison also said Alex’s “upbeat” personality “got to a point where it was almost this toxic positivity, and that’s something that I just don’t want in my circle of people.”
Madison also noticed that Alex wasn’t comfortable “sitting in heavy emotions” in the pods, which is a “non-negotiable” for her. “I need someone who’s able to be there with me because I’m going to do the same for them,” she added.
The two were notably involved in a love square alongside Mason Horacek and Meg Fink. None of them got engaged. Here are the five couples who got engaged in Love Is Blind Season 8 (there were two other couples the producers didn’t follow):
- Joey Leveille and Monica Danús
- Ben Mezzenga and Sara Carton
- David Bettenburg and Lauren O’Brien
- Devin Buckley and Virginia Miller
- Daniel Hastings and Taylor Haag
Love Is Blind Fans Praised Alex For Not Proposing To “Immature” Madison
Alex Didn’t Propose To Madison Because They Were “On Different Pages”
Alex was initially praised for not proposing to Madison. Some thought she was too “immature” for him, and that she was giving off more sexual energy to Mason. “We were just on different pages,” Alex said of their split.
“We realized that a couple times throughout the pod dates, that we just have different styles of communication and we just realized that we were not super compatible,” he continued.
And if Madison isn’t looking for “toxic positivity” in her next relationship, Alex said he’s just looking for “someone that’s genuine and kind, someone that I can just be a life partner with, and just go through life in a very authentic way and be kind to everyone.”
It’s hard not to read his statement as suspiciously positive in light of the allegations. As someone said on Reddit, “He tried to make himself seem innocent and pitiful with the bullying story. If there is proof of these allegations I bet they won’t mention any of this at the reunion.” Or he might not even be there…
