Love Is Blind's Madison Revealed Why Her Airport Run-In With Alex Was So Uncomfortable

Things got into a sticky love rectangle on this season of Love Is Blind. Some of the reality TV cast members found themselves torn between two top matches, making things complicated.

One of these cast members was Madison, who had to choose between her connection with Alex and Mason. In the end, she chose neither, and now she’s come out to explain why Alex led her to believe he was a different person than he really is.

Madison Said Alex Didn’t Support Her

The biggest reason for Madison and Alex’s breakup in the pods was that Madison didn’t feel like she could truly trust him with her emotions. When she tried to be vulnerable and open up about her anxious attachment style, Alex seemed to take that as a red flag and started to question their relationship. In the end, Madison cited that he made her feel “invalidated” and that he couldn’t offer her the kind of relationship she was looking for.

She also cited that he was insistent on being optimistic past the point of credibility:

[It] got to a point where it was almost this toxic positivity, and that’s something that I just don’t want in my circle of people.

Though the two called it quits in the pods, that apparently wasn’t the end of their story.

Alex Wanted To Reconnect At The Airport

After leaving the experiment, Alex reached out to Madison and asked to see each other at the airport. This confused Madison, who was reeling from their recent breakup. Still, she agreed to meet up with him, and when she did, she explained that he wasn’t what she was expecting.

Madison was blunt in articulating her feelings about the situation:

It was pretty clear to me that he was not the same person that I was speaking to in the pods. That was very obvious.

What was it that made Alex so different from what he seemed in the pods? For one, Madison seemed to determine that Alex was quite deceptive, apparently lying about his opinion about Mason, her other connection.

When Madison asked Alex in person what he really thought of Mason (who he’d defended before in the pods), Alex called him a “massive weirdo” and “super weird,” remarks which were inconsistent with what he’d said before. “But you were just defending him,” Madison explained. “That’s so bizarre to me,” she added.

When Madison pointed this out to Alex, he denied it, saying that he didn’t recall defending Mason during their pod conversations. Hearing this was frustrating to Madison, though it helped her quickly determine that Alex wasn’t the kind of man she was looking to date in the real world. She even went so far as to tell People that her now-ex “loves to lie.”

Madison elaborated that while the two of them had spent some time together after leaving the experiment, she didn’t see a long-term romance coming from their connection. In fact, she had already made up her mind that there wasn’t a romantic connection going on between them. She explained in the aforementioned interview that she felt like they were on different pages in terms of what they both wanted.

Alex echoed her statement. “I think pretty quickly we just realized that we were on different pages once again, and we wanted to go our separate ways, and that’s totally fine,” he said. “I think that was what was best for both of us, is to just cut ties and go our separate directions. Again, I have nothing but respect for her, I hope she’s doing well, but yeah, I think it was best for both of us to stop communication.”

“We don’t end up together, and so I think that was honestly probably for the best,” Madison added.
