After meeting and developing feelings for each other on the set of Love Island USA season seven in Fiji, Chelley has announced that they have amicably parted ways. She described the breakup as a “challenging decision” that followed “extensive discussions,” and also shared insights into her future plans.
“Ace and I have chosen to go our separate ways,” Chelley explained to Danny Murphy and Evan Real during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio. “It was undeniably a difficult choice for both of us, but sometimes love means knowing when to let go. We reached that point and made the decision together.”
Chelley, aged 28, highlighted that she and Ace, who is 23, maintained a “mutual level of respect and understanding” throughout their relationship, acknowledging that while they both hoped it would succeed, sometimes things simply don’t work out.
According to Chelley, 28, she and Ace, 23, had a “mutual level of respect and understanding that … [they] wanted this to work, but sometimes things don’t work.”
“Couples go through things that are very challenging, and sometimes the best thing to do is just, you know, make a decision that needs to be made,” she reasoned. “We had a lot of conversation, you know, and again, at the end of the day, it was just like a mutual agreement of like, you know what? This is for the best.”
Although Chelley said she’s thought about the feelings of her and Ace’s supporters and fans, she trusts that they will understand this is the decision that she and Ace needed to make.
“Our relationship from the very beginning was an understanding of like, our relationship isn’t for the press, for the media or anything. It’s because I truly love you and you truly love me, but you know, challenges happen in relationships and sometimes, like I said, you want to just be able to say, ‘You know what, let’s leave it right here before it turns into something it never needs to be,’ like we can leave off on light and love, you know?” she asked.
As for what led to the breakup, Chelley wouldn’t share details.
“I think out of respect for the both of us, the details aren’t really necessary. You know, like I think we can be peaceful and just understand that, you know, we’re good with being able to be on the same page,” she explained.
Looking ahead, Chelley said that when it came to her future, she was focused on “healing” and “growth.”
“I just would love that privacy and be able to just focus on myself going forward,” she stated.
And despite their breakup, Chelley said she wishes Ace nothing but the best.
“I think we’re put on this earth to experience people, so who knows how long that experience could last,” she noted. “Sometimes we want it to last a lifetime, and sometimes it’s just for that moment in time, you know? So, it’s very grateful nonetheless, and at the end of the day, I wish Ace the best.”
