James Bond star Lulu has said she “won’t apologise” for still getting up on stage and performing at the age of 75. The Boom Bang-a-Bang singer has also addressed queries about whether this tour might be her last.

The singer, who rose to fame following her debut 1964 hit Shout, has continued to perform around the world despite being in her 70s. However, Lulu has hinted that her latest tour, which will take her to various venues around the UK, might be her final one.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Lulu was asked if she might be close to leaving the gig life behind. She said: “It’s definitely weird that I still do what I do, but I’m lucky I don’t have to be dragged, carried or wheeled on stage.

“At this point people say, ‘Is this gonna be your last tour?’ And I think, ‘Wow, that’s a question.’ But yes, actually. Possibly.”

The star went on to explain that, while she might not keep up the singing for the rest of her career, that doesn’t mean she has a retirement plan. Instead, she would use the time to concentrate on her other talents.

“Now I want to focus on my acting,” she revealed. “I always think, ‘What am I going to do next? What’s coming up? What am I going to plan?’

“I mean I got into the film business when I was 16 when I starred in To Sir With Love, so it feels like it’s come full circle.”

Lulu has enjoyed major success with two James Bond movies, lending her vocals to 1967’s To Sir with Love as well 1974’s The Man with the Golden Gun.

She will also soon appear in new movie Arthur’s Whisky, starring alongside the likes of Diane Keaton and Patricia Hodge.

The Eurovision star can also be heard performing alongside Succession star Brian Cox in BBC Radio 4 sitcom Bob Servant Says Cheerio.
