Madison's Inbox Flooded After Breakup with Love Is Blind's Joe

The ninth season of Love Is Blind has delivered an unpredictable whirlwind of emotions and drama. Participants on the popular Netflix reality series have exhibited everything from temperamental outbursts to fervent belief in peculiar signs, along with the occasional overindulgence leading to slurred conversations.

One of the standout stories this season has been the tumultuous journey of Madison and Joe. Their relationship took a turn when Joe experienced a last-minute change of heart. During a crucial moment at his tuxedo fitting, he abruptly decided to leave, effectively ending their relationship and his involvement in the show. In the aftermath, Madison has been candid about the surge of direct messages she’s received from other interested men.

Madison’s time in the pods revealed a deeply personal struggle she faces: retinitis pigmentosa. This eye condition could eventually lead to complete blindness, a fact that she was initially hesitant to share. Her concern was that this vulnerability might deter potential partners, adding another layer of complexity to her search for love.

Madison Gets Pickup Lines About Her Impaired Vision

One of the things Madison got vulnerable about in the pods was her eye condition—she suffers from retinitis pigmentosa, which means that there may be a point in her life when she goes entirely blind. Madison was nervous to initially discuss the condition, as she feared it would push away potential suitors.

Since opening up on the show, however, Madison says men have been reaching out to her on Instagram to express their interest. She recalled to the New York Post that there were even individuals who had promised they would be a better partner to her than to Joe:

Baby girl, he broke your heart. But I will help you when you’re blind, mi amor.

Those who have been following Season 9 will know that when Joe ended the relationship with Madison, he wasn’t able to give her a straight answer as to why. Madison told him that he was breaking her heart, and that he didn’t even seem interested in comforting her during the moment of the breakup.

Madison Is Back To Dating In The Real World

Since she finished filming, Madison admitted that she’s been trying to meet people in real life once more. She joked that, while she was back to trying to put herself out there, her impaired vision could still make for some awkward moments. In the same conversation with the outlet, she recalled a small snafu she had when flirting with a cute stranger:

I had this one guy, it was so sweet. He was at a dark bar. Somebody went to shake his hand and he obviously didn’t see it because we have a hard time with peripherals.

Madison added that the same guy also asked her, “Do you have what that girl from Love Is Blind has?,” clearly not realizing who she was. No doubt Madison is at least grateful to be raising awareness about retinitis pigmentosa, a disability which affects between 1-2 million people globally.

“In low light situations, my peripherals are very, very difficult to see… So if I’m looking at somebody’s eyes and I’m talking to them, I’m likely not seeing below their nose,” Madison teased. As of this article’s writing, Madison says that she and Joe aren’t in touch very often, and certainly they aren’t together. She currently reports that she’s single, though open to finding a special someone.
